I don't agree. Twenty years from now no one will remember that AC won the 2011 giro. Precisely because AC does not win one day classics (like Merckx and Hinault) he needs to do something GT-wise no one has done before, eg. all three GTs three times each.

Anyway it's academic. I'll settle for just the tour next year...

This is what I want to see. The Triple Triple.

People tend to remember TdF winners in general, and Alberto won an awful lot GT's and thus deserves a place in the pantheon. People will remember this guy.

He did not do an 8 finger salute :(

but I did see Oleg strangling Alberto from behind with Piti next to him, laughing:eek:

Wet cobbles, probably didn't want to take both hands off the bike I assume.

If you give the 6th Giro to Merckx, you should take away the first Tour from Alberto. Consistency please.

It's his fault, who told him to win so many GT's? :p

It has nothing to do with being Danish. Merckx got pulled/DQed while leading it and on the way to victory, the same with Rasmussen.

Yes Rabo knew, which makes their decision even more ridiculous.

You and Jens Attacks are my favorite posters on the forum cuz you're both always just excited about the races, regardless of what happens or who's winning. Your username is well chosen. :)

Also, chapeau, Contador! Great win for a great champion.

I think they do like and respect one another. A great champion likes a great contender, it makes him raise his game. And both Froome and Contador are fighters to the core - and it is always good to have a near-equal to do battle with.

Great victory for Alberto - so looking forward to next year. I'd love to see the 2013 season well and truly put to bed by AC winning (hopefully in fine style) all his in-form / uninjured rivals.

So, he dreams of doing all 3, but he think he can't really do that.

Alberto, go talk to a certain man named Adam Hansen

If im not mistaken Alberto wears the pilgrim of Santiago ("camino") outfit so the reference with Radagast the Brown pilgrim makes sense. Divine spirit of birds and beasts. :)

And of course does a sense of mutual respect grows between certain competitors. Despite how we (as fans) twist words, creates stories out of nothing and like to act if it was a war going on and they hated each other, there is a big respect when its they who are alone on the higher peaks, battling it out.
