And pretty sure AC Tour 14' > AC Giro 11'

Contador was in great form heading into the race but we have no surety about how great his form was considering he rode one mountain stage before he crashed out.

Contador, Froome, and this year, Valverde. Quintana has yet to show that capability. You can do your own leg work in figuring the when.

If you count Froome '12 (4th more than 10 minuets down), then surely you should count Purito '13 as well.

I don't think there's much difference between doing Giro-Vuelta and doing Tour-Vuelta, so I have no doubt that both Quintana and Nibali will be able to podium (or at least get as close as Froome did in '12) both the Tour and the Vuelta back-to-back.

I did think about Purito after the fact. Whoever wins the Tour won't be riding the Vuelta, I think we can all agree on that.

Imo it was stage 2 of dauphine. It was pretty much the first time someone didn't get dropped by Froome going full ***, those accelerations were insane, gave me Peyresourde flasbacks.

Yes that was very impressive, I was so excited to see he could follow Froome, but that Tirreno stage was just awesome. He killed everyone there.

I honestly do not see anyone beating Alberto next year. The guy seems to be back in form + 100. If he is able to concentrate on the Giro and win it without burning too many candles, I see him taking the TdF too. Regardless of the shape Quintana, Nibali or Froome show up in.

His attack on Ancares sent a bigger message than many realized: End of the last grand tour of the year which he didn't want to take part in, coming out of a nasty knee injury, with his biggest rival getting back to form as the Vuelta progressed, the rest of the main contenders playing dumb and letting Chris get back into the swing of things even though they had a chance to get rid of him 15 times over, Alberto takes off like a rocket after the last of Froome's crazy accelerations.

This is what the others will be taking home with them.

I can't wait to see Porte's duck face as he is put in serious pain trying to drag his leader up another mountain pass.

I don't think so, Froome only experienced for the first time what is it to face a decently on-form AC.
Peyresourde attacks from AC were much more impressive, +20 secs attacks on a steeper gradient. Launched 4 attacks.

It wasn't just AC, it was 5-6 other guys that were able to keep up with CF. All of them got to the top of Col du Béal burned to a crisp.

What separates, or what seems to separate, Alberto from all the others is that he learns and looks for different ways to ride, mixes it up, and finds a way to stay competitive.

What you are arguing are the circumstances that led to Froome's supposed lesser form in those two competitions. THAT we can argue on. Do you understand the difference? Yeah Froome was weaker in the Vuelta for most of the race he was inconsistent in his climbing clearly bad shape. Show me a GT where Froome was getting dropped and riding back all the time, im sure you have seen him ride that way alot of time. Froome climbed similar to Vuelta 12 where he was also in bad form. I stuck up for Alberto saying he would beat Nibali but Nibali destroyed Valverde. Not like a clearly off form Froome and Valverde were destroyed isit. Check the gaps on the GC, Contador crushed the ITT aswell yet the final GC gap is hardy anything. Contador looked fine to me in his climbing style, did not look affected atall actually could accelerate hard and for along time unlike that stupid Kenyan who was in best shape of his life...

He very much wanted to participate in the Vuelta. It was his plan even before he crashed out of the Tour. Once he crashed out of the Tour he was determined to ride the Vuelta and win.
