By the way I have posted this before but I'm going to post it again as it's now (almost) sure Alberto won't win la Vuelta; this is the 5th year of Alberto's career that is ruined. That is 5 out of 10. 50%. Sucks.

5 years ruined? 2010, 2011, and 2012 I guess could be seen as ruined, what were the other 2 years?

Alberto is never going to win a GT again. There I said it. He doesn't have it anymore.

Toughen up girl! He is putting in a world class performance. If he doesn't win it isn't the end of the world; he will be stronger next year and he will Never break mentally.

Lol, chill out. It's obvious this route favors Jrod plus Contador came of a one year ban basically(from the Tour in 2011 till Vuelta this year).

Next year he'll be back and Jrod will be less.

Mark my words. I have seen this coming since 2010. There is something not there.

None of these riders would have made top 10 in this years tour. The field in this Vuelta is horrible. The only 2 legitimate GC riders that were not beaten up by this years TDF that targeted and trained for the Vuelta were Rodriguez and AC. When Valverde can keep up with you on every climb you know you are not very good. AC should have won this Vuelta by 10 minutes. If he shows up like this for the Tour next year he will not be top 10. But then again maybe that is what happens to a rider when he knows if he gets caught cheating again its a lifetime ban. He is just another version of Basso trying to cash in while he can on old results. Ac should really consider skipping the Tour next year and just focus on the Vuelta as the Tour simply may be to tough for him.

Enjoy your vacation and read the rules....

Do you guys know this feeling, you know, that you just can't see it happening? That. Since 2010.

I think you are to emotionally involved......enjoy the great race he is providing us with!!! Cycling is like life; overcoming adversity, growing from it and getting stronger..Alberto will.

I don't care for shows and great races and battles and whatever the **** else. It doesn't matter as long as Alberto wins.

And yes I am too emotionally involved. I can't change it even though I'd love to.

already said it on the race thread. contador wins the vuelta on fuente de

Actually might be very likely, Contador is great at 5 % parts. His 2 best days in the giro was Etna and the stage that tiralongo won.

Those weren't steep climbs, furthermore on gap (tour'11) Contador destroyed the field. Also not a steep climb

Given his current state he has no answers;)

Build a form is something gradually and require more racing time, doing a GT is different from Paris-Nice/Tirreno where if you are 4th doesn't matter.

At least he has a good chance at worlds on road-race and TT.

By the way Spain with Purito, Valverde and Contador is a scary line up aside egos could easily come to play a part

I would say grossglockner was far more impressive. Nvegal too since he took the flat easy then went up the mountain a min faster than nibali who said it was 1 of his best performances on the bike.

Those 2 were way better than his performance on the macugnagae stage. Then there was gardeccia where he attacked from the bottom on what he called "my hardest day ever on a bike" and though scaponi was not far behind, others were a good 30s further back.

It is great. In the tour of catalunya contador faced basso Evans levi martin, a very good cast and yet it was scaponi who was the best of them and came 2nd- contador won. A month earlier he narrowly lost tirreno adriatico to Evans and came 3rd (2nd without tts ) beating people like gesink Gilbert basso cunego and was the strongest rider in msr. A month later he won the main giro warmup race -trentino

People who play down scarponi, and a nibali who had just won the vuelta and has since podiumed the tour, don't know what they are talking about . I don't think its a stretch to say that if 2011 scarponi was here he would be up there with the 3 ps.
