That actually makes a lot of sense, he really did start the season hard, being in the mix and going hard trying win in both Oman and San Luis. Could definitely be a factor in his lackluster performance at Pais vasco and TA.
He's not that young anymore, so going hard and trying to win every race he enters may not be a good idea anymore, he may need to start being more conservative in his racing.

Thanks, yes much weaker field but he definitely looked like he was having some fun instead of simply hanging on for dear life with gritted teeth. Hopefully it is onward from here :)

Won't it be alarming though? weaker field he could only manage 3 spot? He said he might be go too deep with less base that's why he is paying now. I wonder what about Froome? he is superb so far until the Crit? Maybe because Froome said he did a lot of work in the winter. Bertie this year is hard to predict as far as his form. Did Bertie playing catch up now?

It's a one day event. He has how many one day event wins on his palmares? I think the standards are set a bit too high for Contador by some here. My question is how does this race not even rate a listing in the Races & Results or have I just overlooked it? And yet they list the Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Cup Tour of Thailand?????????

His target is tour and vuelta maybe worlds, I think it is absolutely fine not showing too much in the first half year. Remember he is not in the sky team, he simply can not peaking all year around like sky members.

But what if the Sky members such as Froome haven't peaked yet

I don't think CF or RP are fully peaked yet, they will also save their best in the Tour. Let's just see who will have the best form in the Tour. My bet is AC

Let's hope AC isn't going to leave us in suspense until the TdF like Andy seems to be headed.

Rogers is taking a break from racing in order to try to rediscover his form of last year.

It seems it could apply for all riders. I´ll give it another month, if not we see some huge improvements before the Giro I would say the team should reconsider the way they are working. Seems to me every single rider on the team is performing way below their potential or former glory, and it doesn´t seems to be intentionally. Word is Kreuziger will be the Giro captain, and it´s probably also the best choice.

What suspense is there for Andy? He has already admitted competing for the win at le Tour is out.

AC and Saxo as a whole, yes big question marks right now!!!

Might be wise, he has had multiple bouts of glandular fever over the years and only really made it back to form, last year although his win at TOC was a good one.

How unusual is it that this thread buried in the lower half of the second page? Alberto so far still managed to get near the front of any race he's in this year, but this thread lagged so far behind even Andy's until I posted:D

Many have bailed from what they see as a sinking ship. They will shamelessly return when things brighten up again (in their eyes) as I'm certain that they will. Plus Airstream's counterpoint to any positive Contador post has been absent due to his ban.

Ah that's what happened with him.
