I just wish they hadn't attached in the descent, that was so naive.
Yes, unfortunately Riis made some stupid comments yesterday
and to try and save face for himself he sacrificed both Alberto
and Kruetzi. Shameful.

If you'd actually read my comment you would've noticed I was talking about a scenario in which Alberto has blown himself up in search of a stage win.

I'm pretty sure Contador won't be sent on a suicide mission. If he goes, it's his own choice, one that Bjarne may even disagree with.

That's not looking good. No point to blow himself up in an unlikely quest for a stage win, a podium in this form is respectable.

I doubt Contador gained all that weight today.

hes known all along he doesn't have a chance and he keeps talking **** about going for the win and attacking far out, none of which he has done.

I have no idea what he's doing.

Also, how difficult is it to lose at least some weight

contador admitted. He didn't have the leg today. Maybe suffering from yesterday's effort. Too bad kreuziger slight down to 4th with purito breathing on his neck now. And the fact that purito and quintana sit tight on the descent doesn't help his cause to escape.

“Today, we all suffered. From the very beginning I had a little hard legs. In the end, I had a bit of dehydration. As expected, the start was very fast but at the end the weather turned out better than expected. We expected bad weather, which motivated me a lot but it didn't happen The team was working very well but once the attacks started flying, I preferred to go at my pace thinking that the climb was long. At the end of the day, I think we limited the losses well thinking about the bad sensations. I wouldn't say it was an attack on the descent from Sarenne. It was only to go ahead of the group, because we went calmly and without taking any risks. Yes, we took some time, but we knew we needed more people with us and no one ever came, so the smartest thing was to stop and wait for the group because Movistar had been organized behind."

“Tomorrow, anything can happen. It's a tough stage and we have to see how the weather is. Starting with Glandon and Madeleine it's a harsh beginning of the day and on Saturday there is a really hard uphill finish. Today was a big opportunity, but the legs simply didn't respond. Now the most important thing is to rest and recover for tomorrow”, concludes Saxo-Tinkoff's Alberto Contador.

The only thing that has impressed me slightly with AC this tour so far is that even with a lack of form he has tted pretty well. Usually he has to be at his very best to tt like has been doing (his first flt tt was perhaps slightly worse than what he can do at his best, but not far from it). Usually if his climbing form had been where his tt form seems to be he would have been up there almost with Froome is my guess.

I agree it's talking **** but like you said deep down, he knows he doesn't have it. He's under pressure from Riis and Tinkoff to perform and I think his comments are to keep them on side. I couldn't see him coming out with a defeatist attitude where he says just doesn't have the legs and can't win. The acceptance of this wouldn't go down well within the hierarchy of the team.

His best days are behind me. Sean Yates said this himself after AX3 Domaines. And next year you will be adding Nibali and probably the likes of Uran(in a new team) and Betancur to the mix in the Tour. It will probably be even tougher then.

BTW im not very good at telling cyclists weights but is it that bad? Are there pictures from his previous gt wins that show him to be a lot thinner?

And im not asking those of you who will automatically respond pesimistically to any question I ask about Contador.

As far as the weather goes, it really needs to rain and rain hard for Bert tomorrow.

Rain predicted last 3 days and hasn't come. Storms again predicted tomorrow. I really hope the gods have been saving for it.

I'd be keen on odler pcitures for comparison too.
the video on the official site shows him half.naked and his stomach musculature durprised me - is it needed for cycling? if not it's very bad to have, as muscles are heavy.

I feel bad for Contador, i think he's really suffering mentally with this. He was the guy who always made the race and now we're just wondering when he'll drop.

He doesn't do what he promised, well he tries everything he can with his legs.

I think he'll go absolutely crazy tomorrow, after a bad day he usually has a great day, so i hope.

Anyway it's 1 bad year, i still believe he can win GT's.

Even though it won't matter. But rogers is probably the cool head guy in saxo team. He didn't follow contador and kreuziger to zip down the mountain to save his energy. Who da' thought he came in 8th for double assault of alp d'huez. I think with his form right now, bertie should listen to rogers. He is a very calculated guy. Maybe, just maybe, .. bertie will be drop but it probably would be closer than what he's being dropped. Or maybe roman won't loose so much time from purito. Now it seems that purito and quintana closing it to the podium while bertie is struggling just to hold on it.

I feel sorry for him. His preparation this year isn't really ideal. I disagree with people said that he needs to retire. LOL. With nibali and uran next year he won't stand a chance? really? nibali is improving because he prepped himself really well during the winter. He stayed longer in the altitude than he normally has. So his win is because his did a good preparation. Same to Froome, he did work hard during the winter. Dunno how bertie prep is? Maybe bertie suffers wiggin syndrome,.. lack of motivation. He got burned once, his victories were taken away from him. Do you think that doesn't take something out of him? His current form wasn't even close to his vuelta form.

I feel like he needed a good beating, like he needed to suffer. I feel like it will bring the fire back. Hopefully next year he is a man posessed.
