Schleck ahead of Valverde, Cancellara and Freire

And no Armstrong

yea that's a bit weird

Armstrong is of course not on the list because his wins got stripped.

Anyway the top 20 looks okay

Is Netserk again going on about Boonen having achieved more than Contador?

You can make an argument for Cancellara but not Boonen....

Winning races like Flanders and Roubaix is good, but it's still Flanders and Roubaix. The competition isn't that strong. I even rate the big climb classics higher. Not because of the entertainment of these races, but because of the competition.

You can't compare Boonen to Contador. You can't compare a top classic rider with a top GC rider and Tour-winner at all.

Cancellara not only won monuments, but became multiple WC TT and Olympic champion in that discipline. And he won stage races like Tirreno and Suisse.

Cancellara is ahead of Boonen, truly.

Of course he doesn't, he probably believes it would have been a bad thing if he'd won:rolleyes:

Although I don't believe he isn't just a little bit disappointed.

Glass half empty flo?

10 months ago many were rating Contador's chances of winning another TDF about the same as Andy Schlecks.

There were about 5 guys given better odds of winning the 2014 version and he was almost 20-1.

Today he sits, number 1 rider for 2014 in UCI rankings. Number 1 rider for 2014 in cq rankings. Podium of 4 straight WT events, victor in 2 + 4 stages and favourite for the Tour de France.

And afterall, you already wrote him off for this years Tour about 10 times since then.

He's in a better situation than you could have hoped for.

Yes, Boonen really only has his Ronde and Roubaix wins....

All the classics he won, are all the same races. He hasn't won MSR for example. And Boonen hasn't become WC in the TT, or won stage races. Or did he?

The only significant thing he did won and Canc don't, is WC on the road.

is there any tactical advantage of letting Talansky win this race?
if it means that GRS will help TS in the Tour, then i dont mind giving a 1st to the american.

Vaughters to help another team over his beloved Sky?

Don't think so.

I'm replying to you saying its sad that Contador didn't win.

A lot of things are sad, but for a Contador fan, what happened in this Dauphine, especially after the first 2 stages, anything but sad.

I think it's quite sad he came so close to winning and lost it in a very stupid way. Agree or not that is how I feel.

I preferred this outcome in the dauphine than Contador winning it without anything happening in the last stage.

Contador is really good and he showed heart in that last stage. It would have been better if he had won it at the end but after experiencing last year i'm extremely satisfied with this.

Of course it's sad. He was wearing the leader's jersey on the last stage FFS. It's always sad if you lose a (big) race in a way like that.

Especially if somehow you have to accept the fact, that you are worse cyclist than Boonen :(

Can somebody ban this guy? I'm tired of these pathetic July only fans...

He/She's annoying as hell but really hasn't done anything (yet) that is worthy of being banned. He/She is likely suffering and in great pain right now. :p

Complain, complain, that's all you've done
Ever since he lost
If it's not the Crucifixion
Then it's the Holocaust.
I know that you have suffered, lad,
But suffer this awhile:
Whatever makes a soldier sad
Will make a killer smile

I just dont understand who were the "experts" who wrote off AC after last year's TdF.

iirc, i had posted here that AC is a wounded tiger. He would be more dangerous this year.

The difference between a winner and a champion is the way they handle losses. Winners sulk whenever they face defeat. Champions may lose a little, but they come back fighting.
AC is a Champion. as long as he is capable of fighting, he will keep on winning races.
