Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Majka is a very good climber but people are getting carried away
Remember he did nothing in the first 10 stages which were very very hard ...practically everyone else he rode against today rode those stages as GC or as a domesticate ...so they are bound to be tired in comparison

Majka is a talent but so are Pinot, Bardet , Aru, Kelerman , Betencur & all fade in comparison to Quintana IMO

What this does tell me is that maybe as youngster it is better to ride a few Tours for stage wins rather than GC until you have some victories, confidence & experience

Oleg had an interview today on NBCSN
-He spoke with Alberto after the win when Alberto called to congratulate the team.
-He is very proud of team performance and comeback from the depression of losing Alberto.
-Next year the team will be Tinkoff only. I think, sometimes he is difficult to understand.
-Next year the team will be going for both Green and Yellow. Specifically he said Alberto for Yellow.
-Bjarne is a great leader and really 'builds' a team. They are all friends and care about each other and the team. I think Oleg has become one of the guys!!!
-He is very proud of Rogers and Rafa; says Rogers will win tomorrow. First he said Roche but back pedaled on that quickly!
-He believes they are the strongest team in the race.
-He wants a complete team able to compete in classics and be good from early season to the end of the season.
EDIT:
Rafa is the heir apparent for Alberto when he retires.

I wish that Phil and others would stop calling them Saxoff-Tinko or Tinko-Saxoff!!!

Get well Alberto; rest and recover!!!

I can see that happening, unless Rodriguez goes into the break. If that happens and Majka has to follow, well, Rogers better work for Majka, not the other way around.

I'd like to be filthy rich like Oleg and just not give a **** and have fun doing whatever I want.

I respect him, he doesn't care what anybody thinks of him.

You dont have to be rich to have this feature.:D Thank god:cool::D

In fact, being rich make this feature, though still impressive, less impressive. Not unlike a victory at the Tour when your fiercest competition crashed out. :p

Said it before!!!! Yes I'm Gloating:D Oleg has been sending signals to his teams fans. Watch the Giro see who is the first guy to catch Mick Rodgers before he tips over exhausted at the line on Zoncolan. That sends a message to your riders. When your billionaire owner goes to battle for his team at the Giro (over that BS neutral descent). That sends a signal. When he says he wants to grow the money pot and pay the riders more. That sends a signal to your riders. When riders on other teams see that. They want to ride for you. When your riders see these things they go to "war " for you on the road!

I don't think he does any of this with intention. He just loves the sport. He has a passion for cycling. And when your a billionaire and having a blast living life. It seems cool as heck and it's contagious!

Glad he owns my team!

Hillarious Oleg celebration in front of hotel! I WONDER what he would have done if Alberto won:eek::D

Mikkel Condé v2.0

Great celebration from @olegtinkov http://instagram.com/p/qzfq3sHA7N/ (via @dailystews) #TDF

Oleg did admit that he cried when Alberto abandoned the Tour so things would probably be 2 times as crazy as they are now. And considering that next year he's aiming for yellow and green the craziness will triple

You are forgetting Majka just finished the Giro in 6th. He was not supposed to ride the TDF, and only got pulled in at the last minute because TS had to pull Kreuziger. He stated clearly he was not rested from the Giro and would prefer not to have to ride the Tour.

Since there were no serious mountain stages in the first 10 of so stages, and since his role was to help AC up the mountain stages, as his DS what would you tell him?

You would tell him to "relax, take your time, recover, we don't expect anything from you until the mountains, and find your form" THAT is why he did nothing in the first 10 stages.

With the Giro in his legs he would never have made it to this stage in a good GC position or gotten his wins without the time loss early.

he might not be in the podium, but he will detonate the peloton to pieces for sure. He and contador then will rider together to the finish line.. :D
