lol at talk he will do the tripple. Its impossible. The energy you lose over 2 gts is just too big.

Would I bet the farm Contador'll do it? No. But it isn't impossible. It's just extremely hard.

Every time people pronounce on such things I think of Rheinhold Messner, who was told by most of the world's doctors that climbing Everest without oxygen was physiologically impossible. Couldn't be done. Obviously, he did it anyway, and went on to climb every 8,000 metre peak without oxygen to make the point.

Lots of people now climb Everest without oxygen. Such things are only 'impossible' until they're not. And when you've nothing much else to prove why not try it? Seems to be a pretty great sporting challenge, which enlivens the field somewhat.

Oleg makes me Laugh Out Loud! :):)

I think Oleg's brilliant. Barking mad; I'm sure I wouldn't want to cross him. But he injects a lot of fun and energy into the sport, which is especially welcome since the emergence of the 'humour-bypass' management of my own 'home team' to drag down the mood. Wish Sir D of B would marginal gain a sense of fun.

Think of the buzz they'd be - even in non-cycling circles - if such a pact was signed between the top riders in the world...

Well said!

Thank goodness there are people who don't believe in the 'impossible'. There was a time the 4 minute mile was impossible. Things are only impossible until someone does them. Alberto seems to be the kind of guy to believe it is possible. I just wish he was a couple of years younger.

Currently, it looks like he has an easy Giro win lined up followed by an extremely difficult Tour. If he somehow pulls the double off I bet he'll go for it in the Vuelta. I think the triple is definitely dam near impossible and he won't do it, because I don't think he is going to win the Tour. I think Contador is going to win the Giro, podium the Tour and declare the double impossible without great luck and the triple impossible regardless.

If Contador pulled off the double, who would he end up facing in the Vuelta anyway? Think any of Froome, Quintana and Nibali will line up just to stop him(rescue their season)?

I'm also really interested to see how his season's schedule is going to look next year, maybe two stage races pre-Giro, nothing in between Giro and Tour?

I have no doubt that if neither Froome or Quintana take up the challenge at the Giro and then lose the Tour to Contador, that they will line up at the Vuelta. I still don't think that Contador can do the double if Nibali, Froome and Quintana don't show up for the Giro. He can certainly podium but doing the Giro is too much of a disadvantage. Remotely it's a possibility though. Now looking at how well Majka did at the Tour in the last week after going all out at the Giro may give them a blueprint of sorts for Contador in terms of training and how to measure his efforts. Could this all have been part of their master plan? Is Tinkoff that diabolical and calculating?;):p

Must have missed 2011

Anyways that argument is irrelevant since nibali now knows that winning the giro will be very difficult, he has no guaranteed win which he would have if contador wasn't there.

So better go for the tour, better for the sponsors.

So many revolving around the 2011 Giro as an argument, as if Nibali is the same rider he was back then

Also, so many referring to the fact that Nibali runs from his opponents. Tell me one time that has happened.

this, I will give it 1% if competation is really bad at Vuelta.tbh I think 2nd tier climbers would drop him at Vuelta after doing Tour and Giro.

Nah it's not that bad. Remember Carlos Sastre in 2010. He was already declining and got like 8th, 17th and 7th in the Giro, Tour and Vuelta. If the stars align, it can be done

It makes sense to expect until he wins the Giro for a start, because euphoria from the upcoming double have already hurried up to award him in advance.

Remember last year? Tinkoff saying AC was overpaid and lazy. This made AC mad, and he trained more than he had ever done in his life. To his own amazement he found himself stronger than before.

Tinkoff imo, is just thinking that AC needs goals to strive for. So he puts a little extra on to motivate AC. And our luck is that AC thinks it"s cool.

there is a big difference between 17th,top 10 and winning (podiuming). I think its very unpredictable, of course its my dream he will do this attempt one day :)(without crashes)

Right now Im almost sure I will be present at Giro (my first gt) cuz of him :)

I only noticed it when you mentioned it, but either way I'm not sure anyone could tell you "what's up with them eyes".

Edit: it seems like all colors in the picture are really vibrant.. Might just be a camera thing

Have to say the dog seems to take a dim view of the whole exercise…

Hopefully he'll need to buy another dog next year, eh?

I love the Giro and I like the idea of Contador riding it again. That said I am a tad disappointed that we wont get to see a 100% Froome vs a 100% Contador.

Unless Froome decides to do the Giro as well I think it would be better to do Giro/Vuelta, if Contador indeed does insist on doing the Giro.

Looks like we are gonna see a 100% Froome vs a 85% Contador and we all know how that will end.
