Better would be Riccardo Riccò in disguise with a false identity. Like Frank Vandenbroucke going to amateur races giving himself the name "Francesco Del Ponte" which translated means Frank Vandenbroucke. :p:cool:

:p lol but I believe Santambrogio's ban ends at the end of the year

Clearly Majka, shouldn't be a debate at all.

I already considered him one of 2 lieutenants, but only for 1 race. The idea of him sacrificing his own ambitions for AC in both the Giro and TdF seems unlikely.

I don't think Majka will be eager to bury himself for Alberto in both il Giro and TDF
They only need him in July. Rogers, Kiserlovski and Basso should be sufficient in Italy.

So now that it seems pretty certain that Roman is going on a two-year vacation (see his lawyer's tired/pathetic commentary in the front page article), who on the team steps up to be his top lieutenant? Or do they need to consider picking someone up on the transfer market? Who's still available that could play that role?

Don't underestimate Basso, he still could be a good superdom and is a good diesel climber like Kreuziger.

its not pathetic, I think it is planned procedure....nvm still it depends only on CAS

Didn't see your earlier post, just thought you were talking about replacing Roman.

(They can't hire a replacement for Kreuziger until he's officially banned.)

Kiserlovski. He is a good climber and a good signing, he should be one of the last team mates on climbs.

The team was strong enough in the Tour this year even without Roman. Majka, Rogers, Kiserlovski, Basso (though he might only do the Giro), Jesus (ideally also should only do Giro cos the Tour has a TTT) should do the trick.

And who knows. If the CAS-case drags out long enough Roman might even be able to do the Giro (0;

I like the "Cheaters never win?" :D

Yeah they spent almost as much ink on LA, Levi, VDV, Zabriski, et al as they did on the Worlds and the Vuelta. :(

Still it been a Long Time since Alberto got a cover here!

Other than 2006 (for obvious reasons) the only time a Tour winner hasn't been 1st or 2nd was Sastre in 2008 (where Canc for some reason was 2nd). No surprise at all that Nibali was 2nd, he delivered the most dominant Tour victory in a very long time.

yeah, I was even worried he'd win.

and yes it was the most dominant victory, but I'd rate it lower than other dominant victories like Berto 2009, Wiggins 2012, Froome 2013

Lower than Wiggins? I can agree with the rest, but his 2012 win wasn't that impressive. Your argument will probably be the fact that he beat the reigning champ, but the route was tailor made for him to win and Contador and the Schlecks, the biggest stars weren't able to compete. He also had by far the strongest team.

Big lead, had the yellow jersey after all but two stages and won 4 stages. More dominant than any of Lance's wins or those since him.
