I think we should just wait and see today.

only quintana can actually challenge bertie today. nibali, jrod might try to wheelsuck to not lose seconds.

the real climbing fight shall be between quintana and AC. (and it wont be having any stem watching ;) )

It's nice to win and all, but in the end it's all about the GT's this year. If he makes the double, nothing else matters, and if he only wins the Giro or even fails that, it's not like TA is gonna make up for that. In the end it only matters to us who want to go *** about polls on this forum.

Bad news? that's good news, he crashed and he can still do this race? Could have been way way worse.

What am i doing wrong now? It obviously wasn't a bad crash, besides where are your sources for this?

It's just another one of your "ugh you guys are so negative blah blah blah" posts.

It obviously wasn't a bad crash,

It's not "bad news" because it was a bad crash, it's bad news because it means we can probably forget about a good result today.

besides where are your sources for this?

Ha, you think I made it up? My source is the team's Japanese soigneur.

Bad news :(
Alberto had a 50kph crash in training last week :(
I don't think we can expect anything from him today :(
That would explain the bad prologue, your source seems to be legit.

He has looked somber and his riding has been poor all week, a crash earlier could well explain that, bummer.

Don't think the crash yesterday too helped, at all, maybe they will ride for Roman today.

I know it sounds dreadful, but actually, Im quite pleased that there is a reason for AC not looking so happy or riding so well. I know a crash sets him back, but he is not going to lose all form from it, just needs recovery time.

As for this race, yes, I'd love to see him win; I want to see him win all the time and rampaging all over Italy crushing Sky domestiques would make my weekend. But I'd trade every race between now and the Giro for him to win that well and have enough in the tank for the Tour. And I'd trade most of the non GT races he's ever won for him to win the double (with perhaps last years epic TA stage 5 kept, because I love that stage.) It's not that I don't rate them, but I want him to crown his stellar career with something which makes his supremacy unquestionable to even the most redoubted naysayer.

You have to take risks and be prepared to lay it on the line to do something amazing, and he's going for that. I'm with ilovecycling.

I think we just need to accept that the goals this year are only the Giro and the Tour.. no mini peak for the one week stage races.

contador crashed in training? that would explain how he wasn't that confident at all. Poehls? lol. He was too over his head with his interview yesterday. Today, he looks ok. Having Pinaut pacing him lol. Quintana looks good. I wondered, when contador swung aside, was he just loosing a steam or he wanted to check the competition. either way, Quintana made a great move then!!

Alberto is in 2013 shape right now. Whether he's going to be able to improve from that or not is what's going to make him a legend, or not.

If he loses the Giro the season't over.

He doesn't seem to have the acceleration to drop everybody on a single MTF.. just like in the Vuelta. he needs the stage to be harder with more climbs. Think everything is going according to his plan for the Giro, but Froome would also have kicked his ass today.

But it's a little bit worrying that Uran dropped him today. But dont know what his schedule is.

Tbh the whole of saxo is **** this year.. Dunno what is up with them

I hope TS wasn't going through what sky has last year. Sky has been winning in every race now. They made good signing. Richie, Gerrain, Froome, Poehls all firing their cylinders. So far TS made the biggest signing with so far no winning, hopefully, it will bring results on the classic monument and the GT!!! season is still early for Contador. For Sagan, now or never. Next week is MSR.

What are people talking about, Contador in 2013 shape?

It's March, and he needs to peak for 2 GT's. Of course he isn't in the same shape as last year right now. I would be really worried if he was.

People seriously needs to understand thats you can't peak from Febuary to the TOUR, if you want to ride 2 GT's. With only the tour, yes its possible. But not with two GT's.

He's only peaking for the Giro and the Tour, nothing else. And that's what he has been saying all winther. It's just us fans that overestimate his ability sometimes.
