I take some comfort in the fact that he did good on the Mur-de-Bretagne in 2011 and then faded later on in the mountains. This year it's the other way around: Slow on the hills in the first part of the race, fast in the Alps.

Maybe he faded in the mountains cause of the multiple crashes.

Shhh shh. Let's pretend he didn't crash.

Let's hope you're right! Do you think he will attack on the "lesser Mur" of Bretagne. It should be less selective than Huy with a group of 10 or something sprinting for the stage win.
No, I don't think he will attack, and he may lose another few seconds to Froome when he engages alien sprint mode.
Stage 10 is perfect for Alberto, single-climb stage, the day after the rest day, and he should have some more racing miles in his legs. I expect him to hang onto Froome a la 2014 Dauphine stage 2 or maybe drop a few seconds in the final few 100m. If he gets dropped with several km to go, after Froome's 1st acceleration, that would be a big issue. That is when I'll get worried :p

I was thinking the opposite, that it's a perfect stage for Froome. Single climb so uncomplicated tactics-wise, he can just put his men on the front and attack with 3k to go.

yep, if every mountain stage in a grand tour was long slog followed by single climb froome would never lose.

It can be both a perfect stage for Froome and a perfect one for Contador? Too early for tactics to come into play anyway.

yeah, because Froome never ever ever loses in a 1vs1 uphill battle. Lol.

If every stronger climber was his teammate Fabio Aru would win every grand tour he enters! :D :p ;)

But you admit that Alberto is a underrated as a puncheur, right? ;) I think he is one of the best on short, steep climbs. Very close to Bala and JRod.

Makes me worried that he can't even follow the non-explosive riders like Nibali.
I've always said if he's good he'll be top 5 on the Mur  He couldn't follow Nibali because he blew up, don't make a big deal of it. It tells us almost nothing. Just wait till Tuesday and then you can decide if you want to panic or not.

He blew up ,,,that tells us that Bertie is not on good form. It is a big deal. Bertie did not blow up against Nibs last year in the tour when Nibs just let Bertie go.

We do hope that Bertie has timed things right and he will come into form but so far he has lost seconds at the end of races. He's not been strong and will need to improve or he will get dropped in the mountains.
Lets hope it works out but Bertie has shown nothing so far to warrant confidence.

This. It hasn't looked good on the matter of strength so far. That doesn't mean he won't find enough form combined with his race savvy to win the race though :)

Plus Bertie knows how to surprise and will attack early if he see's weakness in his rivals.
I think we will see some early attacks in the mountains and hilly stages. There are quite a few riders who want to claw time back , Nibs for sure will try something unexpected.

Come on Bertie :)

It's annoying though, you never know if he's hurt and if something happened the team won't say it to the press obviously. You don't wanna inform your opponents, let's hope nothing really happenend. The guy already had enough bad luck in the tour.

Talking about the tour in general.

Crash of frank holding him down in tour'10. Crashes and time loss in tour '11. Crash in tour'13. DNF in tour '14 because of a broken leg.

Also had a flat tire in tignes at tour '07 which made him lose at least 30sec, prob even more since he would have followed mayo easily.

Chaingate was irrelevant and you know it, if contador didn't wait for andy when he crashed before, the what? Ah yea
I'm not sure what sella did for Contador in the giro, contador won with 2 minutes.
And levi? Contador won it, i don't get it. Is it unfair you get boni's?
I'll give you rasmussen one but contador lost 2 GT's for similar reasons.

Anything else?

Sella lost 12 minutes due to a mechanical when he was by far the best climber in the race.

Levi clearly was hold back in favor of his leader that Vuelta. In fact he was in the shape of his live.

But you didn't get my point. (bad) luck belongs to a professional career. Maybe not in such an amount like it has favored Nibali. But if one never wins due to a tiny little bit of luck, the thing is most likely set up like with Armstrong!

Same could be said about his 11 & 13 crashes

Sheesh, the point Miburo was making is that Contador and TDF just don't work together, something always gets in the way. Chill. It's just a comment.

I'm just saying he crashed enough in the tour, isn't that a fact? And can i not hope it won't happen again?

And sella was never gonna win that giro, stop it. At the mortirolo he couldn't ride away from them, they let the guy go cause he had the 12 min. Not my fault you're still salty about the rasmussen thing

And sorry that contador held back leipheimer his amazing attacks. We really missed out on that one
