Some rumors in Spain that Alberto will race the Vuelta.

I hope it's true cause he'll only do the vuelta if he can win it so that's good. But i highly doubt that he has the shape, seems impossible.

There's the training vid too, you would assume he would lay off the bike, what's the point? He has plenty of time to start prep for next season

I don't but to me it would be totally batshit crazy to do the Vuelta. But then again he is the pro, I guess he knows.

It would be idiotic, he was already struggling at the Tour, he will never win the Vuelta and it would jeopardize his preparation for next year. I think Alberto is smart enough to realize this.
Probably someone started speculating because of the training video and his cryptic tweet, and others took that as fact.

You'd probably know best since you follow him so closely. :) Would he be moto pacing and training this early if he was just getting ready for next year? For instance, did he start training this early in 2013 when he was preparing for 2014?

I don't know if he did it in previous years, however I wouldn't read too much into it

Riding the Vuelta would be the most stupid thing to do. He will not even top-8 with his current shape.
I am sure he would be top 5, but anything except for the win would be a failure and not worth jeopardizing his 2016 preparation.

Even for guys like Purito, Valverde, Nibali and Froome there's a chance they will finish behind fresher guys like Aru, Landa and Pozzo. Imagine someone who already rode a hard Giro and Tour, and someone who was already tired and way below his normal level in the latter GT.

Alberto isn't on the 12 rider shortlist of the team so he is not allowed to ride (in 2014 he was on the shortlist which started the speculations)

There ya go, case closed! I got to admit, since we are talking about Contador here, I was wondering if he would actually try it. Ain't got to wonder no more.

It could be a smart move to race the Vuelta. After all: he could become the first and only rider in history to finish in the top 10 in all three GT's in one season. This actually would give him some kind of historic record after all, which he deires. Also, it's possilbe that his 'double'-attempt will be bettered at the Vuelta and winter might be long if it already starts now (and he's getting at a point in his career the end is near - and motivation and desire to get out and suffer in training might be less abundant).

Why is Contador out moto pacing already ?
Prep for next year or for this year ??
Yeah I was thinking about that myself after seeing the video this morning.

What video?

Posted on the previous page.

Clearly the tweeter didn't want people seeing it

Are you sure it was a post-Tour criterium? Looks like a pre-Vuelta criterium to me.
