I was joking man. I think Contador will get crushed tbh, I hope it's not the case but i've seen it happen way too often, vuelta 2014 gives me some hope though. Froome was going really hard there and contador could follow it rather easily

it is not always going to be that Contador get time in the ITT. You are realistic, that is good, becouse I quite agree with lenric in with statement... it is the same in Spain in most of the cases.

You are not that way so you are in my side of cycling, it doesnt matter the preferences. If Froome fans would be like lenric said, I would be quite often defending Contador.

Lol...you must not read many posts on this forum. It works both ways...there's crazy AC fans and there is crazy Froome fans.

There are crazy Froome-fans, but there are no craaaaazy Froome-fans, thats the difference
Wait for July, maybe you will change your mind then ;)
Generally however the number of extreme bertie fanboys is indeed relatively high, but I would also say that the number of moderate Contador supporters is higher. Who knows how this discussions would be if the majority of the users here would be Froome fans.

I joined in August so I haven't witnessed it, but it seems there are at least x5 more Contador-fans on this forum. And since they outnumber any other fanbase drastically they obviously also have a higher number of extreme fans compared to others, and as you point out, moderate fans, so I guess its quite normal.

I'm definately a Contador fan, but I like Froome as well (just not so much the Sky GT buy all the good climbers dominance).

Either way discussing in this thread is a bit of a problem though so I don't :D
Way too much radicalism and way too few rationalism. Not my cup of tea.

edit: Too be fair I'm mostly a fan of cycling. Also the reason why I like Contador a lot and why I don't like Gerrans. (no hate, hate is dumb! One of the reasons I quit following football.)

Re:

I only talk about Contador on this thread. Up until the point where someone comes in to belittle his wins or starts underrating him because of what happened in a certain past TDF. As long as there will be those kind of posts, it's gonna degenerate in an argument.

Just look at Taxus, still prefers to measure AC's level by the Tour 15' coming out of an exhausting Giro whether than by the Vuelta 14' for example. What in the sam hell do you call that? Gonna try not to throw an insult here so no one cries about it for days.

Or keeps coming in to post 10 times a day after the Giro 15' that Landa was the best climber. As long as people will come in to provocate or underrate AC, I will do the same for the other riders. Simple as that really.

Regarding Landa he also did reply on the 10 times other people claimed Contador was the best climber. Those discussions are pointless anyways.

Everyone's keen on changing other people, but no one wants to change oneself...

Intolerance to lads with different views within the topic is mind-boggling. As soon as someone does not believe in Bertie fanatically in any big race he is scheduled, one's automatically proclaimed 'stupid', 'delusional', 'clueless', 'incompetent', 'ignorant' and other numerous 'compliments' based on personal attacks. No one considers you stupid, dear exalted Bertie fans, but some of you are willing to regard anyone who disagrees as a fool and declare it directly. One is wholy entitled to discuss, argue, disagree, but insulting other posters is the most stupid and childish act a forum member is able for. Yes, it's internet, most people have no fear to seem idiots and the easiest thing to do is replying 'f**k you, I don't care' but it shows your real class that is a direct opposition of your beloved rider's class.

Any more than a passing mention of Froome vs. Contador belongs in the Froome vs. Contador thread. So if you want to carry on a discussion of Froome vs. Contador you should do it in that thread. This thread is for discussion of Contador.

Once again this is the Contador adore (Contador meh / Contador despise / Contador versus someone-other-than-Froome) thread. It's mainly about . . . you guessed it, Contador.

If someone says something about Contador versus Froome, kindly tell them that you're replying in the appropriate thread.

Basically this thread was started by LaFlorecita so that she would have a single place for Contador love. But you can put Contador hate here, too (at the risk of her wrath!), or something in the middle. If in doubt about whether it should go here, ask LaFlorecita, she'll know.

Phew! What a relief!

Any way - any one any intel. Or thoughts post AC PV interview regarding the retire/don't retire question? I know he talked about racing with his own team, but wondered whether there might be other options?

I hope his announcement that he will not retire means he has found the necessary backing for his team :)

Enough money for a decent team, hopefully. It would be heartbreaking to see him ride his final season surrounded by peasants.

He said he was aiming for 15mln, his brother (clearly a smarter negotiator :p ) said they were aiming for 20mln. That should be enough, and in the Transfers and Rumours thread I read there are quite a few riders out of contract this year, so they might be able to put together quite a decent team.

Berto saying he feels as good as 2014. There may be a bit of bluster to shake the others up but his record is good this season :).

Here’s how Contador’s 2014 and 2016 spring seasons compare:
2014

— Volta ao Algarve: Stage win and second overall, 19 seconds behind winner Michal Kwiatkowski
— Tirreno-Adriatico: Two stage wins and first overall, 2:05 ahead of Nairo Quintana
— Volta a Catalunya: Second overall at 4 seconds behind Joaquim Rodríguez
— Vuelta al País Vasco: Stage win and first overall, 49 seconds ahead of Kwiatkowski

2014 total: 25 race days, six victories
2016

— Volta ao Algarve: Stage win and third overall, 26 seconds behind winner Geraint Thomas
— Paris-Nice, second overall, 4 seconds behind winner Thomas
— Volta a Catalunya: Second overall, 7 seconds behind winner Nairo Quintana
— Vuelta al País Vasco: Stage win and 12-second victory over Sergio Henao

2016 total: 25 race days, three victories

I hope he reaches his goals this year and his luck improves at the TdF.

He will, barring any injuries there simply isnt anyone who can beat him if hes in top conditions. People can come here with all their ideas and theories all they want but from a logical standpoint its very simple, if Contador is in 100% conditions and doesnt crash theres simply noone who can beat him STILL in todays cycling in a 3 week GT.

Cry, argue all you want but show me a single fact which shows otherwice then ill bite but since there aint none and I dont care of half the opinons of the lunatics on here ill just let the stats and facts speaks for themself since afterall its more evidence than some of your guys ideas no offence!

They're not a million miles apart but his 2014 spring campaign was clearly stronger. He has had some promising moments this spring but he has a lot of work to do before the Tour in my opinion.

I hope he rides the national time trial championships, he could win. But I am not sure if he will ride.
I don't think he has to qualify in any way, I don't think the national team coach will have big enough balls to leave him out

I thought Bertie was stronger in 2014. On occasions he looked " F%%kin awesome dudes and lady's " This year he looks great but I would like to see him really push on at least one stage. I feel he has been riding the race rather than testing and pushing his form. Maybe that's something he is doing in training but a race is not the same. He needs to take time at the tour not follow wheels.
Is it only me who's thinking we will see a tour decided by small time gaps at the last 1 or 2 km at the end of a climb.
I want to see riders going for a long one. I want to see Bertie kicking out from 9 km etc . I want to see the peloton in shreds I want excitement.

Could? On that parcours he would crush any spanish rider if he's in top shape which he will be since it's 1 week before the tour
