But still those two gt's were tours and although I still think it's nonsense to say Froome is better than Contador (I'd say Froome at least needs 4 tours for that) the fact that this discussion even exists shows that the big times of Contador are already forgotten and outside of this forum there aren't thousands of cycling fans still saying Contador is one of the best ones ever.
I really don't care much what people who don't know very much about the sport think of him. As long as he is appreciated by the fans of the sport I am happy.
As for that GCN video, I didn't watch it because I didn't want to get angered - I have no idea what the guys concluded in the end - but look at the replies to their tweet
https://twitter.com/gcntweet/status/750302022423834624?s=09
There are a lot of idiots on Youtube who love to point out Alberto as a drug cheat, no doubt about that. And as Carol wrote GCN's audience is mostly British/Anglo.
GCN did some interviews with Alberto in earlier years and many of the commenters were surprised that he was actually "a nice dude" or "pretty cool". Of course the dumb haters didn't even click on that video at all.

If Contador wants to be the legend, which he is according to a few people here, he has to win the only race which would still add something big to his career.
The world championship? ;)

Contador was really crapped on by the Anglo press during Armstrongs comeback, and they really pushed Schleck as the heir to USPS or whatever.

According to Tinkoff team, Kreuziger is free to go if Alberto is dropped.

Makes sense and at least it is planned. If Berto can't stay with them today his GC is over for sure.

He could take 2 minutes back on Froome on the descent of the Aspin. I heard Froome can't descend.

Its not that he cant descend but its the only time you'll catch him with his eyes off the stem.

Anyone knows if there is a filter so that I can turn off all the people who think that Contador should abandon?

After today they'll be quiet.

Vamos!

i stayed away from this forum because of that. All the so called contador fans there dont like to see him ride. Makes me think they are mostly winner team joiners

What? People who want the best for him - i.e. wins - are not real fans?
What about the "fans" who don't care about his suffering and only want him to stay in the race to entertain them with desperate attacks? He's not a circus clown

They definitely are, only care about as much wins as possible. They don't give a *** how he achieves it, i think that's sad.

I love Contador because of the way he rides, winning is secondary for me (of course still really important) but that's just me

So you only want that he abandons because you are worried about his pain, and not because you want him to win the Vuelta? I know that you are no "winner team joiner" and I think everyone on this forum knows that but I still find this "I hope he abandons" behavior questionable because I really don't think the reason people think like that because of the reasons you wrote. Maybe you do but I'm sure the majority just wants to see him winnig another gt.

Of course not. I wrote that I'd rather see him win a GT than struggle on and just manage top 10 and I'm sure many fans feel that way. I'm sure he himself would choose that too. He stays because he still has a faint hope he can produce a miracle and because he is too proud to give up.
I think all those people who write "oh it's great that he lost time, he really should stay in the race no matter how serious his injuries are, he will light up the race in the final week" are really selfish. Newsflash, he's not here for your entertainment. He's here for results.

I can't believe how people like fleur can demand such things from Contador.

He's his own man, he's not an idiot. If you ever get kids, then treat them like that, not contador :p

Not here for entertainment...Thank god Contador doesn't think like some of these fans

If there is one thing Alberto has always been vocal about it is creating a spectacle for the viewers. I'm sure he wants to create one here also. He is a champion and champions think differently. He won't give up unless he is forced to and he will create chaos if he is physically capable of it. It is one of the reasons he will be considered a legend in the history of this grand sport.

It should also be noted that just like in 2014, the crashes not just ruined his chances to win the race despite his great form, but also his chances to win the WT classification.

As if anyone cares about the WT classification except teams trying to get a WT license

Alberto cared enough about it in 2014 to consider riding the Tour of Beijing to win it ;)
