I dunno. I feel like if he had been here, he would have been the one who would have crashed early and lost time early, then he and Froome would have co-attacked on the Finestre and worked well together until Froome revealed his mutant powers and dropped Contador. But I learned to be fatalistic as a Contador fan in later years...

There was a very sweet moment with Manuele Boaro as well with Manuele waiting for Berto and asking about the baby and Berto put his head on Manu's shoulder  but she didn't get a picture of that

Isnt that Basso as well on the left?
Vino to Basso "Man, you saw froome's time up the Zoncolan? He was faster than you. How is that even possible"
"Yeah man, I know, it's his crazy nutrition. We didn't have sh*t like that in the good old days"

As a general question of interest (perhaps better suited for the Froome vs Contador thread?) does anyone have something like the top 5 best W/kg performances of AC and Froomey on mountains that lasted for more than say 20 min somewhere? It would be interesting to see the data :)

Alberto just posted on instagram stories his data for the KOM he got at L'etape by TDF in Costa Rica - 431W for 12'38" #comeback
PS he gave the prize to 2nd best obviously ;)

The rational part of me is glad he's done and enjoying retirement and he likely wouldn't win another GT if he came back, but...I'd be so stoked if he did! :)

I reckon looking at those numbers he's taken a year off, letting his body recover from over a decade of racing then he's going to return at 60kgs for another year :). On a serious note I bet he does think about it, although retiring after winning on the Angliru would be hard to replicate

Good news for Contador fans, he will be on Eurosport doing recon with Flecha for some of this Tour's stages and he'll do some analysis as well :)

Nice news
Unfortunately I won't be able to watch :(
It'll be fun seeing JAF trying to keep up with Berto.

Still love Horners comment about his Veulta. "I knew the only rider who could beat me that race was Alberto and he wasn't there "
