I'm just looking forward to Froome getting 2nd in this Vuelta and then 2nd next year in the Tour.

Froome is the prodigy of the Andy-way.

"At Sky we have set a precedent now," Wiggins continued. "If we are going to dominate cycling and win three grand tours in a year, we have to start building to that GC thing!"

He won 1, one!
Sky won 1, one!

Starting to talk about dominating cycling based on 1, one, grand tour win without the best of gc riders in it, is in my opinion...bold! Maybe even stupid!
I admit they have an awesome team and can do a lot, but..

First of all, TdF was a route perfectly designed to a guy like Wiggins, and for that matter rest of the Sky team, it couldn´t be better.

Second, how on earth do he think he will be able to follow both Schleck and Contador when they set off? With another Sky train?
They drop like flies, and he have to do it by him self, something he already showed he can´t, Froom dropped him when ever he wanted to, so even think he can win another tour is to say being a bit too optimistic and I wouldn´t be scared to make a bet he won´t.

But that´s my opinion.

Its a welcome change from the idea that Sky and Britain are already dominating cycling, and that they have the 2 biggest names in the sport.

Theres a lot of legitimate reasons to hate Wiggins, but him setting 3 grand tours as a goal, is not one of them.

I don't hate him for saying it. In some way i'm actually happy he did.

That way it's even more fun to watch it when Contador will crush him.

I still think it's cocky and unrealistic based on the things we've seen. He's not even the best GT-rider, heck froome is overall better than him and I can't imagine that both of them won't be aiming for the tour in the next years.

Uran and Henoa are still young but they still need to prove that they can reach that level.

Don't think another big GT-rider will sign with Sky so yeah.

Unless of course Froome/Wiggins can win 2 GT's including the tour in the same year.

Only Contador is able to do that feat, don't see who else can do that.

Has nothing to do with I dislike or like wiggins or Sky, if you read my arguments you would get an idea.

the 2 biggest names in cycling??
I wonder how you got to that result!

They dominated a tour without 2 of the, or rather the 2 biggest names in GC cycling, Schleck and Contador, if you mean Wiggins with 1 tour victory and Froome with zero tour victories is the bigger names than Contador and Schleck then cheers.

I didn´t challenge his statement about 3 gt wins same year, of the simple reason I said I don´t believe he will make even 1.

Its nothing to do with hate, its called an opinion.

Edit: Froome on the other hand is another matter, but he didn´t make the statement and probably not a member of team Sky under the present circumstances for very long.

Wiggins was given this years tour as a gift, the route was a joke.

That being said, Even though im Danish, and obviously a Saxo-Tinkoff fan, i like Froome quite a lot, atleast he seems like he is going to create interresting races.

Sorry i just quoted you randomly cos you were part of the discussion, i wasnt directing my comments solely at you but in general.

As for 2 biggest names in cycling, i remember british journos arguing that with contador banned Cav becomes the biggest name in cycling, and that was before he even won worlds or green jersey - which remember is equal to the yellow one.

wiggins was then asked how it feels to be the biggest name in cycling and he responded - am i bigger than cav. Clearly the idea is that Wiggins and Cav are far and away the biggest things in cycling.

Personally i think cav, is way bigger.

btw, no way am i going to click on a daily fail article with wiggins, but in there does he say what his ambitions are for next years tour? Mainly, does he want to go for 2?

Uhmmm... Wiggins is Top WT and CQ Rider this season ( and no, I don't care about Contador - he didn't ride half of this season - it was his choice to do 'some stuff' at Tour 2010 and not Wiggins's and this season Wiggins is currently the best rider in peleton ;) ) Cavendish is the biggest name in cycling scene along Contador. Those 2 are most recognisable current cyclists in the world.

And so having Wiggins and Cav you have 2 biggest names in cycling. See the logic ?

Cav is not the biggest name in cycling and most certainly not achievement wise.

Both Schleck and Contador are much better climbers than Wiggins. Samuel Sanchez as well.

Nah Cav is a bigger name. Consistently the best sprinter for 5 years and probably already best ever. he is up there just behind Contador Canc, Gilbert and maybe Boonen.

People dont even remember who Sastre or Pereiro was and are even forgetting Evans whose palmares is way bigger, so no way can anyone say wiggins off 1 tdf win is the biggest name.

Why is there Wiggins talk in the Contador thread?

Start a Mr. Sideburns thread if you want to talk about Wiggins and his lame *** TDF win.

And welcome back to Alberto!

He lacked a little punch vs punchy kings like JRod and (revived) Valverde but his attacks wasn't enduring when Froome was at 2-4 seconds.

Weakness or intentional?

Perhaps he rate Rodriguez and Valverde as GC competition. On the other side 6 attacks are an amazing number.

there is just so much you can do on a hill top finish, plus final 2km is quite flat. expect more in high mountains and multiple climbing stages

Nah I don't think we'll see much tomorrow, it is not steep at all and very windy at the top Alberto says so it will be difficult to attack.
