so valverde could not race through most of his ban but contador could. I would stop whinging AC fans. He did well. He can just target la vuelta instead of le tour.

Don't want to upset any of you, but ANOTHER SPANISH ATHLETE PUNISHED BY A FOREIGN INSTITUTION. Spanish sport is not on the right way, that's for sure.

Just let them keep the cheating for national racing. It's not cool to keep those traditions when competing internationally.

We both know a Vuelta isn't worth even 1/4th Tour, so I wouldn't see that as something to be happy with.

At the end of the year he'll have 5 GT's, two Tours, two Vuelta's and one Giro. That's enough to make me cry. Everything after 2009 is gone. GONE!

So? He loses two GT's . TWO.

Yes but he is still the winner in mine and others eyes. FFS, he could race through most of his ban. He can come back for la vuelta instead and miss a tdf that is being called boring with him in it.

Cyclingnews writes that "The ban means Contador will lose all results dating back to and including the 2010 Tour de France. Andy Schleck will become the Tour de France champion and Michele Scarponi is crowned winner of the Giro d'Italia.

Contador's ban ends on August 5th, meaning he can ride this year's Vuelta."

After this decision all top officials of Spanish Cycling Federation should resign. Hadn't they cleared AC he would have never ridden Giro 11, TDF 11. Spanish made unnecessary crap.

And that's it ladies and gentlemen, cycling has now changed from a sport worthy of fanfare and grandeur to a mode of transport. From UCI to A-to-B. It's a joke.

Best of luck bouncing back from this Alberto, a great champions reputation ruined by a bunch of hopeless, political farce mongering, bribe monkeys, career rimming, eejit, jobsworths!!

This isn't cleaning up the sport, this is making a mockery of every pedal stroke ever made by the long list of hard working cyclists in the pro-peloton. I'm glad my career doesn't hang on an almost undetectable amount of a chemical compound being found AND unless I can PROVE where it came from I'm suspended - yeah, great rule!!!!

The evidence was rendered worthless thanks to a rulebook that makes no sense! A classic example of the world gone mad!!

Congrats to Riis, who's pretty much getting what he deserves for consolodating and supporting dirty cycling.

If they don't agree with the verdict I can't see them dismiss him.

They can rehire him after he serves his time but I think in the meantime they are required to dismiss him. But now a days its rare a team not named Astana will take back a rider that got caught cheating on their team. I think it would almost be a certainity the Tour will refuse to let him ride in 2013. He is probably looking at 2014 for the Tour at the earliest.
