Alberto Contador suspended until August 2012 (loses all results July 2010 - Jan 2012)

I've heard rumours of everything from a two year ban to a six month ban to no ban at all. So it's anybody's guess. I have a feeling it's not going to be the two year ban, though (although that's based on nothing except my intuition which has, on occasion, been wrong).

Based on the Armstrong decision, I hope he gets off. At least everyone would receive an equal level of justice then.

Am admittedly a Contador fan, but if he does get a ban then cycling will be a lot less exciting without him.

is this the most important verdict in history of cycling whatever the result?

For me yes, in terms of politics because he is the the only one who could "challenge" UCI and in terms of cycling of who will write the history next years.

My bet is 1 year, no Tour 2010 but he can take part this year in France.

Okay, what will it be? Two year ban, one year ban or no ban? Any guesses?

I'm gonna say two year ban. (Just because it can only get better.)

acquittal :) But that´s the fairy tale version, personally, I think he get 2 years, but from when it´s counting I have no idea.

My bet is that he'll receive a sentence that is acceptable to him, but not so weak it'll make any of the governing bodies look weak/stupid. Neither know they can prove their argument, so they've probably cut a deal. Something like all results from the end of last year's Giro til the same time this year are removed. Contador gets a retrospective 1 year ban, but in effect loses no titles.

I hope they will not ban him. Why? Because then why should I watch cycling? Okay there are some favorites too, but I can really enjoy this sport when Contador is in the peloton.

There is a small part of me that wants me to see him get off but I do think he should get a ban. After the LA decision this week having AC get off would make me feel ****.

Supposedly 11:30am CET is when the sentencing starts which is in half an hour.

Thanks. Funny, I have the same feeling waiting for this decision as I do when I am watching a crutial stage of the Tour.

Quick question:

If he's banned, would this ban take effect backdated (beginning from the positive test during TdF 2010, meaning annulment of his results from then on. So with a 1 year ban, he could race this season normally. Or would he be banned from now on and additionally get his results (beginning from TdF 2010) taken away from him?

Let's say he gets banned for one year, starting now, and his 2011 results would be taken too. Effectively, that would be a 2 year ban, no?
