Impressive Vino, he is back, maybe for Vuelta?

Hmmm... he will announce that he is with Astana soon. he said he will be ridnig for Horner in an overall victory for him and they are on opposite squads at the moment. Wouldn't you ride for people actually on your team? Who knows with Vino?

Not exactly opposite teams... Astana's licence is held by the Kazak cycling federation and no doubt the Kazak national team that Vino is riding for is also run by the KCF. It's almost like there is an Astana 'A' and an Astana 'B' squad in the same race.

I include the hyperlinks because they enhance my brilliant humor - lol

Doesn't appear if he has his legs back just yet. Abandoned the last stage of de l'Ain at the bottom of the final ascent.

No worries...this is a classic euro-pro "I'm too good to suffer for suffering's sake, and besides, I have a periodized, customized, me-me-me-schedule devised by a gynecologist in Navarra that didn't call for such an effort" training move. Unable to muster any hope whatsoever of not getting shelled on the final climb and made to look like a knob on TV and in the Forums, the smart euro-pro abandons at the base of the climb (or just before) while still with the leaders, musters a wry grin for the photog's and offers a cryptic quote about everything "falling into place" (delivered in the voice of Mr. Burns from The Simpsons).

Like, duhhhh.

Joe, have you coincidentally discovered the whereabouts of an old, sly fox who hasn't changed his old habits, or is this a new prodigious vagina-deviate-turned-hematologist-dilettante? Navarra, is that where he operates now...

Why don't these doctors use ADAMS, so UCI/WADA can compare the data and see overlap, whenever a doctor and a mass congregation of cyclist show up in a certain area...

Oh, and I find it unfair that you call Vino a Euro-pro. Despite the fact that he doesn't have to cross a pond, and is stuck to the main continent, doesn't mean that Kazachs are European. He is a Central-Asian pro... ;)

So did Astana officially announce his return and I missed it, or are they hoping no one will notice?

I'm glad you pointed this out, not me, being from that side of the pond.
Vino is Eurasian, not European.
Anyhow, I seem to recall Lance quiting Paris-Nice, after two days, in 2005, because of a bit of snow.
Top dogs, no matter what ethnicity, wag their own tails.

A good week for Vino. Not only does Cav get the record, but he secures a deal with a Chinese company to become one of the "haves." Now he will have the resources to go for the yellow jersey.

Cyclingnews understands that the Shenzen-based company will become a major investor in the team for a period ranging from five to 10 years.

The Chinese-registered team will have a budget in line with the 'super teams' of cycling's top tier such as UAE Team Emirates and Visma-Lease A Bike.

Oh, so it's actually a done deal?
Meh, they say super team and Groves is supposed to be the first signing...
Knowing Vino, I bet he goes for the big splash. Didn't the Visma/Soudal merger fall through because Soudal's license couldn't be legally transferred until this year? Rumor was Lefevere wanted out last year, but also wanted to be paid first. Is Remco still being paid half the amount of Pogi, Vingo, Roglic and Froome :tearsofjoy:? Just imagine Remco and Vino working together, along with a sponsor that prioritizes winning over all else. :p

Of course I make this in jest, but if Vino has UAE's or Visma's budget, he will be bringing in top talent.
