I know what Andy Schelck is trying to do! He's trying to amass as few WT points as Alberto Contador. It's a silent protest against inequity.

Gone from DNF to DNS. Andy, stop it, I can't take it any more, I'll wet myself.

Real reason --> Pining for Frank?

Andy is my mental anguish. :(Well, I don't think he's far from the level he had say in february 2010 or 2011, but seemingly he doesn't think about cycling currently too much. Dunno, maybe love came to him. :D

Largely because he stopped racing and training seriously. Pantani's mistake was not returning to racing immediately after the 2-week cooldown period. Andy hasn't raced at a top level since the 2011 Tour and he hasn't finished a race since LBL.

largely because the coke addiction was damaging his body in ways that couldn't be helped

What a bloody Girly Man...I officially give up on Andy...what a bloody waste of physical talent on someone with the mind of a 13 year old school girl.

Which happened largely because he had stopped racing and living like a pro.

The info that I got is, that he is not ill, but will go for a training camp to Mallorca instead of racing.

It depends on the source, on the very andy friendly and major newspaper of our country, he will go to a training camp, on our radio/tv broadcaster who isvery often more objective he is sick....

Are there really still any out there who believe that Andy Schleck is a top level bike racer?

He i s proving himself to be a boy in a room full of men.

Pathetic. He is getting paid a lot of money and not being held to a performance standard to collect it.

you know the whole thing about JRod saying his new team will be a surprise for everyone? What if he joins Radioshack and goes into the tour as the leader with Andy as his domestique? I think Andy will benefit from this since he won't have the pressure of winning or doing a good GC ride. He will benefit from JRod's experience. During the coming seasons, JRod will probably want to focus on the Vuelta or Giro anyway so Andy can be leader for the Tour once he has his act together.

What makes you think this? He doesn't seem to have benefitted from the experience of working/riding with Riis, Cancellara, O'Grady, Sastre etc...

Hang on in there C. In my opinion a better option to go Spain for some warm weather training. Keep the faith:)

I would've been more optimistic if he has ridden Tour du Haut Var, despite the Leopard's PR spin.
He's well behind, I'd say. Even if he didn't have the season like he did, this would have been problematic start. There's more than just sports matters, I'm sure.
I'm starting to think he's lost for this season too.

Andy is lulling other riders into a false sense of superiority. In July he will remove his nappy and come out to play !

I don't care how talented he is, if he can't even finish one race without abandoning, I don't know how he can compete with the likes of contador, froome, evans, purito etc? Oman was already a fire works and it's not even July yet. I hope he can find some motivation somewhere, get a grip (I really do. It would be fun to see him mixed up with contador and froome).. otherwise his name this year will reduce to another footnote.

I hope andy saw wout poels performance today. That guy is also coming back from a terrible injury but is trying to race instead of giving up on everything.

He'll never do that. He can still make a lot of money.

I still hope he gets his best level again. Froome vs Contador vs Andy should be awesome.

Besides he's only 27 or 28. He still has a lot of good years left.

at which age do cyclists usually reach their peak for performance? Is it 28-32?

depends really. Sprinters can reach their peak very early. CLassics riders and gt riders can reach their peak in their 30's. Different from rider to rider ofc.

Andy himself has mentioned that age.
Although it might be true, I don't think it's proper mindset.
It's like delaying an obligation. You get relieved of tension, but in fact just losing the time.

Boonen once said he would retire at 30 or something like that (when he was around 25).
It's just things you say when you're very young and later on change, obviously, opinion. ;)
