It's a pity that neither Andy or Alberto will bring their A game to the Tour. It would be interesting to see how it compares with Froome's top shape. Also it would be great to analyse the different climbing styles: my favourite is Andy's. Powerful, big gears but not TT style. Guess we'll have to do with Rolland smashing his knees with monster gears :)

highly unlikely. AC in 09 was arguably the best tter in the world in the last week of a gt. HE would actually just have to follow wheels like Leipheimer to win it :p

I dunno, i think Froome would be very close.

Next year Andy will ride for Astana and go for the giro ;):p

I would absolutely love if this happened! :D (I'm not joking in the least there).

We have seen that Froome appears to be a bit stronger than Contador in the mountains. I wonder how much Sky has considered the Andy angle. Could a top form Andy distance Froome?

What do people think? I know it's been ages since we have seen Andy at peak form but assuming he can reach the same peak will he be better?

Froome can't take the kind of hurt a 2010 Andy brings.

I'm not so sure how andy can beat Froome even from 2014 onward. If contador can't beat Froome (at least for now. we'll see TDF for sure), how can Andy? Andy sucks at TT, and no matter what he did, he doesn't seem to want to improve his TT anyway. Froome isn't wiggins when it comes to the mountain either. If contador can't, I can't see that andy can. With a talent like Andy he has never win GT (other than in the court) and he won less race than Froome. within 2 years, Froome already achieved GT podium and won every stage race he entered. Andy can do galabier attack as many as he want, he still will bleed on ITT and lost his jersey like 2011.

Most memorable for me of Andy '10 was what he did for a couple of minuted after chaingate, went full gas and passed those ahead of him like they were going backwards

You don't think so?

No I dont.IMO Froome's climbing is worse than Andy&Alberto in best years, and his TT is the same like Alberto in 2009.He would have beaten Andy by a small margin cos of TT though.

Yea,I remember that,it was amazing.:) It reminds me of Contador attack in 2007 when he passed Discovery guy with at least 4 times higher speed:D

There always will be a Nairito to fight with Froome if he improves TT a bit.
My feelings are that 2013 is Froome's peak,so I think if Andy will train really really hard,he can beat him in following years:)

Edit:sorry for 3 following posts,I should have write it in one

We haven't seen Froome going full has in a GT so far. The day before yesterday he showed exactly the thing to win the stage and not more. Contador showed 100% of what he could do on that day. Froome didn't. So... It's unknown at best. Or maybe I just dislike such comparisons because they are impossible to be reproduced and be checked.

Andy Schleck : “But it’s true that I have always finished my Tours de France well, and that’s going to help again this year. In any case, I won’t have finished working when the Tour de Suisse ends. I still have some quality work to do. And if it doesn’t work out at the Tour, I won’t have any regrets because I’ll have done everything to go well there. And there’ll still be the Vuelta and the 2014 Tour…”

I would love to see that happen. :) Would be a very smart move as well.

Andy was dropped very quickly from the peleton.. Kinda disappointing :(

Not disappointing at all. It was expected. You get lured by his statements that he will do something and his form is on the up but ultimately he isn't. This year he simply hasn't got it. If u r an Andy fan look to 2014. Somebody needs to stop him from racing and concentrate on training really hard a la Rocky Balboa:cool:. But unfortunately the sponsors may want him to race:eek:.

if i recall his contract is up end of year. So he'd better have some thing to sell. Name and talent alone won't guarantee dividend in performance (see BMC). Beside there are lots of potential up and coming young riders (younger than andy) now that have shown their potential pedigree in the mountain, even a more well rounded rider than young andy (hint: TT). And they don't soft pedal during the race. They go full gas to win on every race they enters. So he has to race even if he likes to soft pedal. As you said, his sponsor paid him tons of money to show up in the race, not to train.
