Funny how that guy fnished already second in the Giro.
That was back when he actually raced...

'07 & '08: Could race several times a year.
'09 - '11: Could race four weeks a year.
'12+: Could race zero times a year.

You always have a comeback, no matter how relevant it is ;)

Yeah, 'cause 2nd in Giro '07 is better than having a TdF-win in '10 or 2nd places in the TdF in '09 (where he also took LBL) and '11.

By the way, I am sure he'll be better next year. Not old-level good, but better than the last couple of years.

Andy Schleck: "Looking forward to hurting myself"

New interview (in French): http://www.lequotidien.lu/les-sports/49282.html

- did 10 days training camp in Portugal with Fränk
- was "burnt out", "mentally exhausted" after the Tour
- thinks to only have been at home 1 week between January and the Tour
- best memory of the year: helping Monfort at penultimate Tour stage
- still has some dreams left, one of which is becoming true - being a father
- thinks Bob Jungels "might be the biggest champion Luxembourg has ever had"

Goals for Lombardy?

"I want to finish. Lombardy is always very special. You have 5 guys who go for the win. 5 more guys who go for the podium. The rest is just happy the season is over"

What category do you fall under?

"I'm happy to be there. I'm looking forward to hurting myself one last time."

Who are the favourites?

"For me Rodriguez is the big favourite. Him and Valverde, I can see them up there."

Oh lord, that's one phrase Andy should never use. I know what he means, but. . . let's not tempt fate.

:p

That's a pretty nice thing for Andy to say. Chapeau.

lol

Yes he also said in the same sentence: "When I was at his age, I did not have those achievements" - which is technically true but also stretching it a bit :)

Just happy to be there...looking forward to making himself hurt...sounds like someone is enjoying racing again. Not matter what he does tomorrow, this is really nice to hear. :)

I like these words from him as well.

“I believe so,” he says when asked whether he can compete with the likes of Chris Froome (Team Sky).

Be afraid Dog, be very afraid...

Andy who?
Over-hyped media darling.
Will NEVER regain former prominence and continue with excuses/reasons/explanations.
Yes, it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.;)

Too much problems always with Andy in autumn, one year tooth problems, another sinusitis, another one despression, another...
so, I believe his problems, but it is difficult.

He did a big effort, and he was at a good level in the Tour, with his bad days, but it is for me enaugh considering his previous years and how was in February.
so, it is good he start in Lombardía if he had sinusitis before and I hope he come back to a good level, at least better than Contador in the key points of the season

I'm hoping this is the case. Is it too soon to hope that he's turned a bit of a corner - a la Cav - and might start to become likeable again like he was pre-2010?

Andy has fallen off the face of bike racing, talk about his lack of performance instead of actual racing is a bad sign. He hasn't really shown any effort to move back into the lime light, then again it might be part of some master plan to not do anything of note due to his brothers absence and the cause of it. They always have side agenda's as of late which has basically killed their sporting endeavors.

That'd be nice, I don't buy it though. Giro and the start of the 2014 season's still a long way off, we'll have to wait and see.

He's got talent. But his attitude w.r.t work is lacking in determination. what he needs is a stern taskmaster like Riis to get the best out of him

Before..always supported in his mano mano with contador, and that sneaky sly attack by contador when his chain fail makes me angry.

unlike ultra trendy riders who talk a huge game to the media and then wheelsuck their way to 4th, no he hasn't made a move to enter the lime light because he probably doesnt like/need to have his ego built up larger than life.

since when is it a crime to get in a crash and lose form? doing so and not being ultratrendy that is the crime we are discussing here.
