Boy.. i wonder what trek must be thinking now with Andy and Frank. Maybe they do need start finding their GC contender like Molema, Kelderman that's new, fresh and got more motivation. TDF hasn't been kindly for the brothers. Andy is out TDF and Frank is already lost a lot of time after 3rd days. Andy should do Vuelta to show he is still worthy the rider that he used to be. Maybe his luck is shinning there when he thinks it's not suitable parcours for him.

At the Tour, the feeling was much worse indeed. But in the Ardennes, Gilbert was riding in a league of his own that year... I'd say he was unbeatable and in LBL Schlecks were still "the best of the rest"

Actually Andy attacked in the 3 man breakaway and Franck for some stupid reason bridged the gap and took Gilbert with him. One of the worst displays of tactics I have ever seen in cycling.

The sad part is that I don't really believe the injury is that bad. And that's showing my prejudice as I usually try to wait and see before making a judgement. With almost any other rider I wouldn't be so sceptical.

He should recover in time to do the Vuelta. If he passes on riding it or just meekly retires in the first week then he should just fade into the background.

Well, he wont have the Tour miles in his legs come Vuelta and according to the statement he needs an operation with rehabilition upon that. Let say there will be trouble coming into any form of shape (let alone win it) given what Andy has showed the last couple of years.

But, like Franklin, i am not sure that his knees are the major part here. It could be a smokescreen for not letting AS humiliate himself in the bus when we hit the mountains.

Looking in the crystal ball here: AS will "feel" the effects of this when back on his bike after this "surgery", he will not find any decent form and at the end of the year, retire.

Well, it's obvious that for the Tour they should support Zubeldia. He's two seconds down with the rest of the contenders. I can't see him doing any better than the top ten, but that's likely the best Trek some hope for right now.

Did you see the interview he made before the start of todays stage? was no smokescreen there, he was almost crying.

Andy is in surgery as we speak. He'll get your messages of support via @andy_schleck.

UPDATE Andy Schleck: rupture of both the collateral and cruciate ligaments of the knee + a tear in the meniscus and a lot of bone bruises.

I know Andy is the laughing stock of many on here, but I think this injury was genuinely quite severe and deserves a big 'get well soon' off all. He was visibly quite upset and as we all know even the most silly of crashes result in nasty injuries.
