He has had a bad injury. His come back in Beijin was precipitate because he didnt want to be so long time without race, but there he was fat and out of shape, because a long time out of bike, and later just training two hours becouse the pain.movingtarget said:Andy has to decide what he wants to do. The Tour starts in less than five months. You would think he would be hungry for success after last year was written off and he was second in the 2011 Tour. This year's Tour is a good route for him so what does he need to be motivated ? He seems to have plenty of talent. I have given up trying to understand him. After last year many people wanted to see him come back strong including myself but the latest news does not sound good at all. I thought that the business with his brother might motivate him to succeed even more but he seems to be falling back into old habits.
Then he should move to Team Sky, they have a shrink on staff.jyhjyh said:So maybe a psychiatrist could help him.

Could be fun with Andy and Cancellara back with Riis from 2014![]()
The Hitch said:How would this work. Contador banned, at movistar or also with riis ?

serfla said:You might have right about selfishness and collegiality. Although in cycling a single rider stands on the podium, there's the whole team behind him. And Leopard is created primarily because of Andy. So he should be a bit more responsible and less egocentric. But maybe his current condition prevents him to be. He was very enthusiastic in Australia last month. Frank's suspension did happen in the meantime, but I think there's more than that.
He should speak with Jensie. Not about repaying services, but about cycling, career... life in general - if you want. Maybe there's still no need for professional intervention.
Andy can no longer rely on his talent, U23s can. Preparation and willing to suffer is the only way up.airstream said:as all genuises Andy relies on his talent. probably too much. but we have to see the ardennes at least.

I meant to say this: Andy can no longer rely just on his talent, U23s can.airstream said:I agree with you basically. Though IMO talent is inside of a rider whatever his age. Talent just underlines how much easier one achieves something than other one.

ferryman said:As potentially talented Andy is, he is certainly no genius on or off the bike. But yes, agreed, lets give him time to get ir right. Still very early.

airstream said:It's ok. Andy just preffers not to use volition on preparatory races. The hill required some extra efforts and he easily switched to the mode of training cadence.
burning said:He's going to post something like that when he fails at ardennes.
(That post was made after he got dropped on a 3rd cat climb at Dauphine)
Although rhetorically appointed, the explanations imposes by itself... He was busy partying and thinking he knows everything about the business. Just like most of successful lads in his age.Angliru said:I would've thought that in all the years he's spent on the same team with Voigt that maybe a little of Voigt's professionalism and work ethic would have rubbed off but it appears not. Add to that the opportunity to learn from O'Grady and Cancellara. What has he been doing all these years?

autologous said:Yeah, still plenty of time to learn how to shift without jamming his chain.
Angliru said:I think he's impatiently waiting for the invention of the remote-controlled shifting group. Takes the responsibility out of his hands.![]()
