3 right? One he earned Big Time; Epic Ride!!! One he out sprinted Samu, the 3rd was gifted :)

Te 3rd one was not gifted, Contador knew of course that Andy had outsprinted Samu, so he didn't even try!! :D

Andy up to 14th overall after today. Cool! :)

Yeah did not expect that, good for him!

I'm glad he didn't sent his teammates to work for Froome.

He says he doesn't care about GC anymore and only wants stage wins, so it makes sense. On the other hand I can also understand the smaller teams such as AG2R trying to secure a top-10 placing

Christian, Do you think he will win a stage? {and please don' write five thousand words essay to answer :p :D }

I think there is a good chance, yes... he is sufficiently far back on GC so as not to pose a thread and he seemed like he has the form for it. If he can keep the form of the last mountain stage, where he was right in Froome's wheel then it is possible. However now after this stage the race will probably get more nervous, which might work against him. Froome will want to lay down the hammer and no one can follow him, not even Andy... Or Belkin and Saxo will go balistic... If the race was calmer that would work in his favour IMO. But who knows, even a nervous race could work out well for him, as it might mean a less organized chase behind the attackers.

But he seems motivated, looks like he has the shape and the route favours him, so I think the chances are good

Thanks, I just found those in a web search myself, the solo win on the Galibier was what I was referencing in my previous post, no one chased him immediately because they did not have to, the real contenders that year waited a while before controlling the gap knowing that Andy would lose the race in the forth coming ITT, that was pretty obvious, and was talked about by Liggett and co. during the broadcast. So although he won the stage, it was a forgone conclusion that he would not win the tour itself.

Actually it wasn't until the final few KM that Andy hit the wall and Evans took back over a minute. Further down with the gap Andy had and the lack of cohesion in the chase it looked like he was riding into an unassailable lead. Evans throwing his arms around was hardly the sign of a man who wasn't worried about the gap.

Like I said, even Liggett and Co. talked about the odds of Andy doing well enough in the TT, they were very skeptical of Andy's effort paying off, and they were correct in their skepticism, hind sight or not, Andy's odds of winning the tour were very small and the other contender knew it. The guy can not compete against the other overall GC guys in an ITT, that's a fact.

Just as you stated Andy hit the wall before he hit the finish line.

He has done much better than I expected him to and I hope he can hang on for a top 20 finish or better. The second TT should be more favourable to him unless the fatigue has got to him. He also seems to be riding near the front of the pack more than he has been in the past which is a good sign. It's easy to kick people when they are down but based on this and what happened earlier in the year I think he will be a much bigger threat in 2014.

"But you know there are number of climbers who would like to win a stage and are out of the general classification. It's not going to be easy but we've a couple of options. Andy could look for the early break but I think that it might be best for him to wait until the final moment and then try something on the final part. Attacking on the bottom, that's a long way to go until the finish but he has the legs to win on Ventoux."

Good to see they have confidence in Andy, and good for his own self esteem as well. Allez Andy! Now go crush some souls up Mt. Ventoux. :D

When Andy was in form, he was stronger in multi climb stages than single climb ones.

What we have seen today is natural. He is not ready yet

It was painful to watch Andy pedaling squares so early in the climb..... :(

I am hoping that his pride will push him to finish the Tour. I can't see him winning any stages, but maybe he can build some form for a start in the Vuelta (not that I'm aware of any plans for him to race it).

We may be seeing a very abrupt passing of the torch, if guys like Andy and Alberto never return to previous heights.

The entire Shack GC team pretty much tanked today.

20 Maxime MONFORT RADIOSHACK LEOPARD 00:03:31

23 Jan BAKELANTS RADIOSHACK LEOPARD 00:05:04

32 Haimar ZUBELDIA RADIOSHACK LEOPARD 00:08:46

38 Andréas KLÖDEN RADIOSHACK LEOPARD 00:10:42
39 Andy SCHLECK RADIOSHACK LEOPARD 00:10:42

Its time to stop fooling around and go all in during one of the Alps stages. And not just Voigt and Bakelandt.

Liggett and Co are the definition of the broken clock that is right only twice per day.
