He's currently serving a doping ban for which he tried to blame tainted steak. What kind of character does that reflect?LaFlorecita said:Maybe a fan's character is really close to the character of the rider they're a fan of. In that case I'm even more proud to be a Alberto fangirl.

I'm not the one claiming that the character of the rider is reflective of the poster. That would be Alberto supporters. Just pointing out that of the two "characters", one is currently sitting out for a doping ban.Fetisoff said:Baiting, eh????
Stripped of his titles, eh? Wonder what that's all about.nowhereman said:Andy Schleck and Alberto Contador are both great, just different riders???Are y'all stoned, or what? Andy's record......
You call this GREAT??: 2011- ONE stage win at the TdF and coming in 2nd after miserable failure of strategy and performance on the penultimate days ITT. (BTW that's it for 2011, results wise)
2010- 2 stage wins at the TdF then handed the title that he DID NOT WIN on the road. Luxembourg ITT champ.... oh and oops! That's it for 2010 Wow! Great year.
2009-Probably the best year of his career so far- a year that showed "potential"
Luxembourg Road Champ, 1st Liege-Bastogne-Liege, won one stage of the Tour of Luxembourg, 2nd overall at the TdF, along with 1st in the young rider category.
2008- TdF Young rider-1st, 12th overall. 1 stage win in the Tour of Poland
2007-2nd overall at the Giro, and 1st young rider at the Giro(which put him on the map)
Is that GREATNESS???
Compare this to Alberto's palmares, and YES they sure are "different" riders.
2011- Alberto is stripped of his Giro D'Italia title that he won convincingly, along with the 6th place at the TdF, and some other results......but I digress.
2010-Oops, stripped him of his Tour de France victory, and GAVE it to the Great Andy Schleck. But before that debacle Alberto took the titles at Paris-Nice along with 1 stage win. And he took the Volta Algarve with 1 stage win, and the Vuelta Castilla y Leon with 1 stage win(ITT).
2009-He was the Spanish ITT Champ, He won the TdF, most notably taking 2 stage victories, and beating his own team, and Lance Armstrong, along with Schleck and the rest of the free world! And that after, he had taken the Volta Algarve(+1), and Pais Vasco(+2) titles along with stage wins in both and finishing 4th in Paris-Nice with 2 stage victories.
2008-Took the Giro title with one weeks notice that Astana had been invited (Are you listening, Frank?) and took 2 stages too. Won the Vuelta a Espana and took 2 stages. Also was 4th in the ITT at the Beijing Olympics, and took Castilla y Leon with 2 stage wins, and the Pais Vasco title with 2 stage wins.
2007 saw him take Castilla y Leon + 1 stage win, And The Paris- Nice title 2 stage wins and the Young rider jersey, Along with winning his first TOUR DE FRANCE title, along with the best young riders jersey, and 1 stage win.
DIFFERENT riders? You bet your bootie they are different riders. Alberto is a champion. Andy is an overrated, babied, cutie boy, that seems limited to one target a year. And he's yet to take a big one, on the road. He knows it and all his fans know it too, whether they want to admit it or not. The records do the talking. I've just put it on the table. chew on that a little.

Also, I'd encourage you to actually, you know READ the CAS decision. It's very interesting reading.
2011 Giro cleaner than an "F"ing whistle, and you know it. And He kicked their chamois' all over the country side. 2010 comes along with it's Nanograms of "clenbuterol" a drug you and almost everybody else had no idea about. Even CAS didn't come up with an unambiguous conclusion on his case. They claimed it was a tainted food supplement. What supplement? they don't know, it was just SOME tainted supplement. They had to blame something, rather than believe his defense, so that people like YOU would feel that justice was served. And now you and all the other "haters" want to summarily name him a "doper" and dismiss him, and then act as if those nanograms were responsible for his winning the Tour in 2010. My return to all the idiotic haters is that he did eat tainted meat, and the exhaustion, and sick look you saw on his face after the last ITT was because of that tainted meat. You guys can believe what you want, and feel satisfied with yourselves that he's been punished (though, through what I've read, most of y'all don't think he's been punished enough) But he will be back, and he does knows how to win, unlike Schleck.VeloCity said:Stripped of his titles, eh? Go ahead, keep crowing about Schlecks lone L-B-L victory. But no matter how loud you crow, one win does not make a champion out of a chump. Anyway you look at it, forward or backwards, it ain't looking good for A Schleck, especially if he keeps going as has become his habit. THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT.

Anyways, Both of the bros look like they wont be in top shape for the Tour imho. That said, Andy is known for being able to reach top form extremely fast.
However, should evertything fail for them (bad form and bad route for them) I would love if one of them passed the Tour and focused on the Vuelta, to give us a showdown with Alberto. Tbh I think a move where Andy and Alberto arent in the Tour but both do the Vuelta would bring the Vuelta in as the top GC in 2012. However, I doubt it will happen. At the time we reach the Vuelta Andy will prefer a few pints with his old mate Stuart![]()
