Plus he did the pave stage after quite a bad crash the day before. I didn't hear any whining coming from him. Having said that i am not totally convinced of his climbing form, he has shown none all year. But we will soon see!

Then you missed his pussy a$$ed whine of an interview the morning of the stage. You'd have thought he was asked ride the stage with a lubed up anus and no saddle.

Andy sounds pretty optimistic but I am not so sure. "Cadels" is too dangerous. On the other hand, "Cadels" is not known for going off the front, so Andy may have a point.

Since no one really has a link to the exact quote it is not really sure what Andy meant:

"Evans is no threat ...

... to the environment"?

...

Anyways if he meant "to win the GC" I think he's right, as in "Evans is no threat to Contador", but he's much more of a threat to Andy!

/edit: Sorry, I just saw the link on page 10

"Not to discredit him, but I don't see Evans sticking with the leaders (on the climbs)," Schleck said at the end of Thursday's fifth stage.

Schleck said he regarded Evans as "a bit of an outsider", but added: "Maybe I will be proved wrong."

Seems like a fairly neutral statement to me--that is, it's his genuine assessment, and where he sees Evans, in relation to the other favorites. Doesn't seem like much of a criticism to me.

Schleck could be right, but "sticking with the leaders" has a much different meaning than "responding to attacks." To say he would have trouble sticking with the leaders on the climbs implies something on the order of: that he would be tailed off of any leading group of less than about five riders, or that he would finish out of the top five GC contenders on multiple climbs.

Rather strong and negative comment, actually. We'll see in week 3, I suppose.

This is the same Andy Schleck who said LA should be the leader of Astana in an interview last year while Riis said the opposite.

How has Lance done more for cycling then Evens? And who is this Evens character?

Lance is good for cycling because he doesnt engage in all that nasty stuff that riders from countrys that dont speak english come from as well as Bruce Murdoch. and he donates nols of money to the uci so they will still be able to organise races during the global financial crisis.

But this thread isnt about Lance, although it should be, its about Evens. Evens is a very good rider who tries really hard all the time and is very tallented (not as much as lance) but cant win because eveyone else puts tiny motors in their bikes (not lance) and he couldnt do that because he is too nice a person.

Evens understands that he cant win races so always tries to get second place, this is why he looks so shocked and upset whne he does win.

I still do not understand who is this Evens? I have not heard of Evens. Ever.

I will forgive you for not knowing much about cycling cos you understand enough to like oily lance.

Good, we'll be able to tell which one is Evens by looking for the very little man with big hairy feet.

Oh, now that is funny. We are talking about "poor me" Andy who is only in the race because the entire peloton waited for him. LMFAO ... priceless! :D (and by the way - that is one nasty image you've created)

Great now I'm getting forum etiquette tips from someone that uses a gay soft porn image as their avatar.

Why don't we use "Evans" or "Cuddles"? Yes, Lance's coming back from cancer is an inspirational story for many and has enabled him to raise a bunch of money. I think many of us probably question any donation that he has made to the UCI, however...

I don't think the statement carries any such implication, it just means that Evans won't be in the leaders group at the end of the day. Even if you're right and technically carries such an implication it's very subtle. Considering the statement is either translated or made in Andy second language it's not reasonable to assume that every nuance in the statement is intentional.

I think we can all agree that when acf94 and wonderlance post they do it with a maniacal cackle of glee although the underlying intent may be different.

It may be that AS is correct in his assessment of CE but as others have said week 3 will really tell the tale as to how much the Giro has taken out of him. I think that if CE manages to make the podium it will be a massive achievement after the Giro. Having said that so far the luck really seems to be going his way in the Tour so far which is a bit of a change.
