stevendejongh: "Great team work again today, another 2nd place for Edvald, and took the lead. Boys did great."

A lot of talk around from Team Sky that EBH is not anywhere near to his top form but he still seems to be finishing strong in all of the sprints and matching riders like Farrar, Boonen etc. Could it be possible for him to challenge for the green jersey?

I think it is possible for him to challenge. But there are certainly bigger favourites than him to win it (Cav and Hushovd). He needs to pick up points at stages who have hills and maybe go in some breakaways. Like Hushovd did last year.

I think he will only get better and better as the season goes on. His training this winter has mainly taken place in Oslo, and I`ll think he will need a bit of time to reach the best of his form.

I found it all very odd...

Shame about the idiot commentator.. "team front on the sky" "threw his bike over the wheel", it wasnt even live, he had time to redo it..

Finally got the see the highlights for Sunday's stage.

The commentator was woeful, and if you're going to stage night crits, get some proper lights - like the ones they use in Singapore/Abu Dhabi for the F1.

based on parcours, the tour of oman seems quite interesting. I think this will be a win EbH. he will win the whole thing especially with the tt. i think somebody like ballan will have a go solo!

Problem with the TT is Cancellara. Obviously we don't know how good shape he's in right now, but under normal circumstances he could take a lot of time on an 18,6 km TT. More than EBH can take in the sprint even given fairly good results.

With the 18km distance and seeing that EbH is in pretty good shape i think he could hold to a reasonable margin. Plus he has and could get some time bonuses. If he can win tonights stage then i give him a good chance for overall.

As I said it depends on Cancellara's form. If he's in bad form he might lose time on the hilly stages and be put out of contention, but under normal circumstances I'd say EBH would need around 1 minute to be safe.

You may be right, and I really hope you are, but I'm a bit concerned too. EBH is first and foremost a young rider, and pushing too hard this early in the season could very well have a detrimental effect on his potential in the upcoming spring classics and GTs. Have patience, he'll be around for many years. We saw the effect the ToB had on his performance at the Worlds last year, and I really hope Team Sky doesn't expect him to hit off in every race. It's early days....

Apparently Cancellara was dropped in the ToQ TTT as he was recovering from flu, not just poor form, and the way he was nailing everyone else to the wall in the later stages during the lead-outs suggests he's got some degree of power remaining..

It's a tough one to call, and thus should be an interesting race!

Well Oman TV2 had no coverage of the race live yetserday but 3 hours of repeated highlights and people talking about the stage. Wonder if today will be different.

Westra may have only won the sprint last night in his head but at least he got in todays break and got an intermediate sprint.
