I really don't get why people feel he need to donate to glory hunting charities like livestrong and the likes of coney 2012, all they do is create another middle man in the whole process. It is far more beneficial to donate to charites such as cancer research UK and amnesty international.

Video footage from Lance's party last night. Do any of these celebrities even know what they're doing there or do they just show up to be seen? Looking at the faces of those standing behind him make me very sad.

Didn't this scumbag resign as Livestrong chairman? Why was he speaking like the leader of a political campaign?

The MLK quote was sickening coming from him. He doesn't hold a candle to MLK.

And yes, I'm sad for the people standing behind a fraud like Armstrong. They don't know what's right or wrong anymore. Just follow the leader.

follow the money

As "Deep Throat" said to the Washinton Post journalists, "follow the money"
Its interesting how much of the USADA irrefutable evidence came from the money trail.
Can we now hope that some proper investigative journalism looks closely at Livestrong? Or, do charities not need to be regulated in the USA?
Even though I´m sure he cares about cancer, the oppertunities here were just too good to turn down, and although he said he played by the rules, in reality he played fast and loose with the rules
BTW I have a certain sympathy for him riding away from a group going uphill (others do it me all the time:eek:) but its harder to go at a slow pace uphill in the cold.

Armstrong appeals to cancer supporters as some donors ask for their money back

The Roddys -- who live in Santa Monica, California -- say they initially gave $50,000 to the foundation. In 2003, Connie Roddy said, she helped organize an event for the foundation at a health club that raised an additional $150,000.

Now they want their money back.

"I feel we were really fooled, we were really hoodwinked," she said.

The attendees paid big money to attend this event, the Livestrong gala. So,it would stand to reason that they are his most diehard supporters.

Have a look at Armstrong's acceptance speech (below). It's been posted before, but here is the link again.

Note how carefully crafted Armstrong's speech is. It's purely a function of Armstrong's PR team to give the illusion of support. The large number of people standing behind Armstrong on stage gives the illusion of support, it is very difficult to be critical of someone when they stand with the innocent. Also, there are key individuals that are obviously planted PR attendees whose role is to create an illusion of support again. The guy, front and center behind Armstrong who starts clapping (shortly into the clip) when the crowd lulls early on which gets more people clapping. The people directly front of stage area that stand early on which causes others behind them to also stand making it look like the crowd gave a willing standing ovation. The fact that international guests, like earlier invitee from BBC - James Pearce, were ushered as far away from Armstrong as possible, shows how choreographed everything s by Armstrong's PR team. Oh BTW, the link is to a YouTube video first posted by another user. With all the Armstrong fans watching that video, check out the ratio of likes to unlikes on the video page. It's not good for Armstrong.

Armstrong's speech in its entirety. Approx 5 min..

It reminds me of Tom Cruise' speech when he received his "Medal of Valor"(whatever that is) from Scientology. He says a lot but it is very superficial and has no deeper meaning. The difference is that I think Tom Cruise has been brainwashed. Armstrong knows exactly what he is doing.

What to expect really.
A low life raised in a trailer park with psychopathic tendencies, how else could it end.

But I hate to say this, you have to admire how this freak have been able to avoid the balloon from blowing up all these years, despite all the law suits, intimidation and harassment's, it´s amazing how he could survive for so long.

Imaging if he had gotten away with it...scary thought.

Manipulating and bullying people to get them to like you and give you their money.

What a way to go through life.

If I were paid $500,000 for a 4 hour ride, I'd ride as slow as the slowest rider, whether or not I was cold.

It looks like the official dress code for the staff is black...for a cancer foundation... or it just reflex the mood of the people who work there, probably.

Was there someone that helped mastermind the livestrong money making scam? Or was it all LA? Didn't LA once say a few years back that he was thinking about getting into politics? What a blight on humanity, does he live for anything besides power? Is he quite possibly a genuine sociopath?

Foundations are standard for highly paid jocks. The amount of expenses laid against donations usually indicates the sincerity of the founder. I would expect Weisel & Stapleton recommended the structure and marketing. It is a great cloak to wrap around Lance in his troubled "couple of weeks" but won't last much longer than that now that the cancer community is recognizing his intent. They will be angrier than LA's jilted cycling drones I'd wager.

Folks from high up in Dell Computers played a central role in the early structuring of LAF. They knew lots about leveraging through the internet. Austin TX business folks all pulling together, that sort of thing. Radioshack headquarters and key folks located close to Austin too.

I just found these articles from a blog run by a Professor in accounting and a PhD student. They blogged about Livestrong being a dubious organisation as far back as June 2010. They were attacked in the comment section for being superficial and for hating Lance. Being the professionals they are that just made them dig for more dirt and that has resulted in numerous blogs about Livestrong. Interesting to read a professionals take on this, before the story about "The Livestrong-scam" hits the headlines and every "expert" will have an opinion.

I have posted the articles in the link below.

On that infamous day that Armstrong confronted Tyler Hamilton at his favorite Cache Cache restaurant in Aspen he was earlier at an hours away event elsewhere in the country.

I recall the event was sponsored by Nissan and the crowds thronged expecting to see Armstrong put the hammer down on the local wanna-bes.

He dawdled around the course and came in stone motherless last.

After finishing and making a speech he must have received a telephone call. He was off like a bride's nightie heading for Aspen, Colorado.

I would think that we will be seeing a lot of investigative reporting into the Livestrong scam over the next few weeks/months. We are already hearing a few tidbits, but I would think the best is still to come.

I really hope that although it also seems that it's ok to bash lance now but not his fight for cancer...

A start would be to post here, w links supporting the post, evidence on when Lance personally received a fee in connection with a Livestrong branded event.

These could be fees from governments, race promoters, LiveStrong supporters, LiveStrong sponsors, LiveStrong/LAF itself, etc.

Just the ones that have made it out into the public already should be quite an interesting list.

Armstrong took funds the organizers thought were going to Livestrong and put them in his pocket

Admission by Livestrong in the Norwegian article which, in effect, justifies that if Lance speaks the money is his not Livestrong (irrespective of how the money was induced).

VG has however contacted Livestrong, USA. Communications Director Katherine McLane answer the following questions about Armstrong fees ended up with cancer organization:

«"Livestrong has a rule not to accept money related to Lance Armstrong's voice business."

In Tour Down Under did Lance speak?
