The situation today had me thinking:
If a rider is in a situation in which he - some way out - is well aware that he's already fallen for the time-cut, is he then most likely to battle on to the finish line, knowing he'll be out anyway, or leave then race then-and-there?
In other words; which is the more "honourable" way to leave a race? Having a big fat DNF slapped next to your name? Or having a big fat HD slapped next to your name?
HD, but it does not matter really. Those who would care would know a rider was sick/injured. Others would not care. If a rider was healthy however, not finishing is for sure worse and would likely show in next nominations for GTs ...
I guess in most cases the DS would call it off to not push needlessly if it is an ilness or an injury etc.

At some point the other FDJ should have soldiered on. Why sacrifice them if you know Demare can't make it.
Yes, kinda silly decision from the management. But whatever ambitions FDJ have from now on, the loss of four riders are probably not going to matter much, as they are most likely relying on Pinot for a stage win. Losing three rouleurs won't have any big impact on that ambition.

Unlucky but karma's a beach.

Demare DQF helped his career.

He had collected to much hate last week.
If he got the green, the hate may be forever.

Now, his quit relief the hate a little bit.

Judging the comments in l'equipe strangely it's quite the opposite. There was almost no "hate" for Demare in France before today but they are really laying into him now about not sending his teammates ahead. Everyone is grilling him HARD.

Funny how sentiments are completely different depending on where you live and the different media you access.

Karma for what

For not being DQ in stage 4 for dangerous sprinting

For not being relegated IMO. DQ would be too harsh.
So he deserved to get sick because the race jury made a bad decision?

He lucked in on stage 4 by not getting relegated and lucked out getting sick. That's it. Whether he deserved it or not has nothing to do with it.

Winning feu paris-Bruxelles today, 10th victory of the season. He's going to race the Canadiennes and then stop his season. He feels to tired to participate to the World ans tells that to Cyrille Guimard.

I don't know what he is going to do in Quebec and Montreal. Even in his best shape I think these races are a little to hard for him. But maybe he just wants to fulfill the role of teammate any once in a while...

Anyway two great seasons in a row, look forward to a third one !

Stage 1 of Paris-Nice is his thing.
