Good news, hard to see anyone other than a full form Porte or Evans beating him in a one off TT.

RR should be interesting, reports are Gerrans is fresh and flying after his shortened season last year and hungry to start well.

I doubt that OGE will get things entirely their own way this year, Evans, Porte, Dennis, Morton and maybe even Hansen all climb better than anyone on the other teams so if they let Orica and Drapac do most of the heavy work they can fire some serious salvos at Gerrans and co at the end, just depends on how much they want it. I can't see Durbridge simply riding away again this year, that's for sure.

Don't discount Drapac's improved roster, Wes Sulzberger has done well on this circuit before riding alone in his FDJ days and will have an ok team there. Clarke, Meyer, Anderson, Davison, Lapthorne and Johnson should be ok support. Not the quality of OGE but certainly no slouches either.

Dennis was only 20 secs back the last time. If Durbridge has been sick, and this time Dennis hasn't broken his collar bone just weeks before, I think it should only be closer.
Very true, Adam Hansen is usually motivated for this as well. Hepburn, Howson and Cam Meyer are chances too. Trav Meyer has been training harder than usual for this time of the year and could place a good time too.

Should be interesting, is there a start list yet?

Maybe. Durbridge wanted to go after hilly races last year. Was he already thinner early in the season in '13? Did it impact his TT'ing in general and if so, will he be back to full strength this year?

Anyway looking forward to it.

He came 6th in the Giro TT, smashed the Duo Normand with Tuft and took some big turns at the TTT Worlds so he should be good. Tony Martin now has the upper body of an anorexic chicken and TT's better than ever.

Ok, getting beaten by Voeckler in a flat TT is no shame. Still my impression is that his TT'ing didn't improve in '13. We shall see this year.

And yea, Martin's bodyshape is rather ideal.

He struggled in general pretty much his entire European campaign. But he seems charged up again as good as 12 months ago (winning in Victoria again and accounted for Meyer in a local TT a few weeks ago IIRC), depending on how bad the bug is. Dennis has never seriously threatened him over this distance. Howson and Dennis shouldn't be too far off, and we may even see a living Hepburn...

A 20 sec difference in a 40 k TT, you don't call that a serious threat?

Don't forget Matthews, who seems to perform in one TT every year: the Aussie nationals.

Nah not really, not between two specialists. The difference was twice that in Geelong and it was a shellacking by Durbridge. All things being equal Durbridge wins nine times out of ten but it's a race and at the start of the year, so he'd only be an even money favourite, Dennis 30% Howson 15% Hepburn 5%

Matthews isn't starting.

I noticed that the start list for the TT is very disappointing considering the RR field. The only WT starters are Durbridge, Howson, Dennis, Hepburn and Will Clarke.

The only guys who may come close are Freiburg, Anderson and Norris.

Durbridge > Dennis >>>>> Howson/Hepburn/Clarke
