Well-deserved stage win after a truly great spring for Barbin.

The atomic bull from Bergamo strikes again. What a season he is having, simply outstanding!

He also has the right people surrounding him and after teaming up with Sandro Callari (famous Italian trainer); he really has taken a quantum leap forward.

I am very interested in seeing what kind of rider he finally will turn out to be. I always thought of him as a Cunego type of rider. Good climber (He won the Italian mountain classic Pian Della Mussa in 2010. Was third on Monte Bondone and sixth on Monte-Grappa), extremely explosive riding style, with a fast finish to boot.

However, I talked with one of my friends on Skype after today's stage. He has raced against him for several years and is also riding the Giro-Bio with him at the moment. He says E. Barbin has bulked up a little and as a result lost some of his snap on the long mountains. He sees him more as an Enrico Gasparotto kind of rider now. We debated it back and forth a little because I stubbornly held on to my originally Cunego resemblance.

I guess Gavia will tell us more, that's if he still has any ambitious left to fight for a decent place on GC. I have to admit on Monte Terminilo he didn't look too promising.

litttle up and downs, hills not long climbs.
dombrowski and us national sould be able to control.
they will also find allies in teams interested in the stage win.

aniway, chapeau to dombrowski: finally a climber which attacks at the beginning of the climb and not in the last 1500 m, where you cannot dig big differences.
aru was good, but the american simply was stronger
chapeau, really a great prospect

i finally saw the gavia climb o the italian tv.
aru in the last kms was able to see dombrowskii, but even using heavier gears yhan the american was not able to close the gap,
dombrowski was climbing very well, turning the leg very fast in a real grimpeur style, alternating parts in which he was sitting and then going en danseuse.
he really impressed me.
alll the others except aru have been destroyed.

the only worry about his future is about the fact that he is still developping and he has to build some muscles in the thighs, that are very skinny. . i hope that this will not affect his climbing.
he has the some kind of body of gesink, but he appears more stilish and elegant on the bike than the dutch.
he climbs spinning at 90 rpm but he does not move his shoulders a lot, while today aru was pushing a lot with his shoulders trying yo push heavier gear.
in aosta last year aru looked better.

i hope he will sign in a pro team that will give him the chnce to develop quietly not trying to improve his tt rtoo suddenly, building too many muscles in the unpper part of the body.
he is a great climber and he should keep this profile.

aru is very good too, and i am convinced that he will have a great pro carrier, going better than all the others small size italian climbers (possoni, marzano, salerno, santoro) which were not ti really break theough at pt level.
only pozzivivo did well in recent years and i have some hopes from brambilla too

Me too. Finally caught this morning's repeat? Rai weekend schedule went to piece again.
Great viewing, like a race from the dim and distant past. Mano a mano, with some hefty time gaps.
Dombrowski is definitely going places.

Actually he reminds me a lot of a young Gesink, he used to be more fluid as well. There used to be a video of him winning the Settimana Lombarda in 2006 on Youtube, can't find it anymore though. But there you could see that he had exactly the same style.

That video was mine but it was removed. Some stupid copyright issue
Yeah, I seem to remember it was yours... something like "super mega über talent Gesink p.wns the cycling world" ;)

Of course it's important to have copyrights on footage from the Settimana Lombarda 2006, people are willing to pay big money for that.
