While it's obvious why Lampaert did what he did, I don't believe that there is a mechanism in place for redress in the rules, so there is currently not much that can be done.

Real fail by Quickstep, but also by the commissaires.

Definitely. But I believe the organizers were also thinking about the whole idea of the golden kilometer - it encourages the teams to ride extremely aggressively, and the organizers know that, so being lenient towards QS is a way of defending the concept.

They should have taken away the seconds that Schmid could gain through the doings of his teammates. There ARE teams in this sport, that has to be taken into regard. Otherwise teams will see this as good tactics and try to do it again/more often.

We'll get to see blocking on most stages on the Tour when Ineos/Jumbo/UAE or whoever are happy with the break. I'm surprised those tactics don't cause more crashes..

Throwing the whole team out for the actions of one rider is legally indefensible, sets a terrible precedent (how do you determine when one rider should be thrown out and when it should be the whole team?) and inherently punishes riders who had nothing to do with the whole situation.
teams have been penalized for individual doping cases so why not this? And 'legally indefensible'? I doubt it. A race organizer can do whatever they want

Well, the UCI takes over the file. Lampaert will probably have to explain it at the headquarters in Switzerland. He can no longer be punished by the UCI for his action, because he has already been punished by the jury. But the UCI can impose penalties against Lampaert and/or his team for inflicting damage to cycling. I really hope the UCI will set an example here.
