Where is Kittel?

Not here, although he won 4 Tour stages and proved to be faster than Cav and Greipel, he was very inconsistent in big races throughout the season, or didn't even race many of them. Cav on the other hand raced Tirreno, MSR, il Giro, his national champs, the Tour and even rode on the front in the Worlds.

Sagan is few "San Remo" centimiters out of the top league but he really had his "moments" this year that will be long remembered. ;)

The strongest?
Froomey without a doubt.

Through the whole season?
Close call, either Purito or Valverde. Voted for Valverde.

People keep saying Froome went missing after the Tour. Yes he did. But after the Giro, Nibali didn't race for two months. After Paris-Roubaix, Cancellara didn't race for seven weeks. It's fairly normal to take time off after your main event if you've won it.

Even though Nibali didn't race for two months, he still raced 4000 km more than Froome...

Why is Horner not in this poll? His win, is much more important than what for example Valverde did this season. Beside that he gave hope to all the persons out there, who used to think that getting old, meant you could no longer hope for a GT win. For me, it really boosted my hope for Klöden getting his deserved GT win.

Sagan is few centimeters out of the best league but he really made some races long time to remember.
T-A (beating Cav for a first time, helping Nibali to beat Froome)
Tour de Suisse (epic stage 3 making Costa to win GC)
Gent–Wevelgem (sprinter winning solo the classic)
Brabantse Pijl (made some people "clinic" furious)
Quebeck, Montreal (those race organizers should pay him bonus)

Btw he finished first or second each third stage/race he entered. Not bad at all.

I wonder who is the "jumper" of the year. Him or Froome. It will be interesting to see whether they will be able to step up even next year.

A bit of a leap don't you think?

well, we have 5 monuments, 1 WCRR and 3 GTs every year. Winning at least one of them is the entry card to be considered rider of the year imo.

Well I am fully awere of it. ;) . It is going to be fu...ig difficult for him. Those San-Remo centimiters must be very painfull.

imo Nibali is the best rider for 2013.

Cancelara, also had a cool season, with the Robaix win, and Rodriguez had a nice season with a lot of important placings.

Despite all that I ended up voting for Rui Costa. Just couldn't help it.

Probably, but it would be quite hard to beat either Mollema or Kangert without Sagan animating that stage.

he has all the tools and above all the age to deliver a few key wins. Wouldn't worry about it.

1st Chris Froome
2nd Vincenzo Nibali
3rd Peter Sagan
4th Rui Costa
5th Purito

It was a great season.

Sad for the season ending, at least NBA is starting again.

I would put in in 6th, he was great during the cobble season and before in San Remo, destroyed Sagan in Flandres with a brutal acceleration, E3 was easy, but on Roubaix i was disappointed with him ( VanMarcke really deserved that win, but was outsmarted due lack of experience and Stybar bad luck almost made me cry ).

And then his season was almost over in early April, it's one-dimensional season, the rest of the season was almost non-existent for a star caliber rider like him, i can't put him at top for that reason.

Agreed, monodimensional riders shouldn't be in here.
That's why Nibbles is the best rider of the season, together with Murito.

Froomey "You can consider me a dog. Oh and by the way, I only race when you can win a yellow jersey" my ***.

Nah screw it. Best rider of the season Papy Horner. Just some random days of racing, 42 years old, destroys some of the best riders in the World in one of the hardest GT. Goodness me.

Sagan.
He was always a threat in any race and on any course other than HC climbing stages.
Can't be said of any of the others.

Remove the timed gained by Costa on that stage and he would still win the GC by roughy 30 seconds over second place. Costa dominated the race, Sagan had no influence whatsoever on the final GC.

Like i said previously, Sagan didn't win a single monument, didn't win the worlds and only won 1 stage at the Tour.

While he was one of the best, he wasn't even one of the five most successful riders of the season. Dan Martin for example had a much better season with as many Tour stages as sagan(1), a monument and one of the most important 1 week races of the year.

Sagan is not in first 3 for sure, probably not in first 5, but for sure he was better then Dan Martin this year. (who is btw in my top five favourite riders) :)
