name me a colombian rider I have hyped that races as badly as cameron wurf does
I don't think ACF says that Cameron Wurf will own the European peloton, like you do with basically every Colombian. He says he could be a good domestique.

That's because he kind of sucks.
I could understand why Lotto signed him, last year he was at the pointy end of hilly races a few times, but this year he has been absolutely dreadful.

Thank you theyoungest!

Anyway, to answer your question ryo, Wurf is a domestique which is different to what you claim all your colombian riders to be

Gustavo César Veloso won the Xorret del Catí stage of the Vuelta that year, and the Volta a Catalunya the year before. His star waned a bit in 2010, but he couldn't find a team after Xacobeo collapsed and has been gone from the scene since.

I always wonder what happened to the Xacobeo Galicia riders. I guess most of them stopped cycling or are racing as amateurs. Except maybe Delio Fernandez riding for Onda Boavista.

a domestique. a good domestique is szmyd, not wurf and if he was as good as you calim he is then basos would've wanted to keep him for sure. but not they rather wanted sarmiento and betancourt

While everyone assumes he's a sure write in for Katusha, as far as I understand Denis Menchov is without a contract as of right now. So that obviously makes him the best rider without a contract.

Or am I missing something here?

No, you're right. It's a bit strange we haven't heard anything from Menchov so far.

Though you could argue Cobo is better than Menchov right now, but that's another discussion.

Either they are trying to make a big spectacle out of it, so they have to do some preparations. You know, with fireworks at the Red Square, with Denis riding around on a bear's back drinking vodka... anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, either that, or he had another good offer, so there are two teams courting him right now.

Probably give it about 30%/70% for these two possibilities right now.

One of the best of those, Marcos Garcia Fernandez, rode with KTM - Murcia this season and will go to Caja Rural next season, so he is back now, and then ofcourse Vladimir Isaychev went to Katusha

your point being . . .? that he is on a team where he will have no freedom?

i don't think thats a big issue when you are an ITT specialist that for some reason wants to be something he can't be ( a GT GC rider)

Oh I misunderstood. I thought he was saying that NO did not have a team for 2012... My mistake :)

Szmyd could lead at other teams. He is not a top tier climber but he is way better than pretty much all other climbing doms out there. His leaders are just lucky he seems to be more inclined to helping others than riding for himself.

if he rode for hismelf maybe he could be 10th in giro. no team wants that. szmyd is a typical domestique but of exceptional level

Xacobeo-Galicía 2010:

Carlos Castaño (aged 32, retired)
Gustavo César (aged 31, did not ride in 2011, but is willing to return to cycling)
José Antonio de Segovia (aged 29, rode with Supermercados Froiz in 2011 - a well-known Spanish amateur team that also includes Moisés Dueñas)
Gustavo Domínguez Lemos (aged 31, retired)
Aser Estevez (aged 23, stagiare, rode with the Spanish national team at a couple of stage races last year)
Delio Fernández (aged 25, rode with Portuguese Continental squad Onda)
Alberto Fernández Sainz (aged 30, can presume retired as his official site has not been updated since the 2010 Volta a Portugal)
David García da Peña (aged 34, suspended)
Marcos García (aged 25, rode for KTM-Murcía until August)
Rodrigo García (aged 31, rode for elite amateur team GR100 Sports-Extremadura)
Vladimir Isaychev (aged 25, rode for Katyusha)
Serafín Martínez (aged 27. One of the ones I thought would get a team actually. I like him. Apparently he had an offer of a ride from a Portuguese team but turned it down as it didn't offer enough serious race days. Instead he has moved into race organisation, and was part of the Vuelta's entourage taking VIPs around. He does admit that as the year has gone on he's been bitten by the cycling bug again, but feels like he should move on)
Ezequiel Mosquera (aged 35, suspended)
Nelson Oliveira (aged 22, signed for Radioshack)
Francisco Pacheco (aged 29. Xacobeo's sprinter rode for Guerola-Valencia Terra i Mar last year, a well-known elite amateur team in Spain, as well as with the national team in Asturias. He has signed to Gios-Deyser for 2012 (former KTM-Murcía team)
Gonzalo Rabuñal (aged 27. Another who I thought should find a team who didn't; his training has been in fits and bursts but he still has desire to return to the pro ranks. In October he raced against a car on the Anglirú in a publicity stunt for Audi)
Gustavo Rodríguez (aged 32. Rode some MTB, but mostly for elite amateur team Spol-Nova Caixa Galicía in 2011)
Pablo Torres Muiño (aged 24, stagiare, rode for Caja Rural's elite amateur/u23 feeder team last year)

José Antonio de Segovia (aged 29, rode with Supermercados Froiz in 2011 - a well-known Spanish amateur team that also includes Moisés Dueñas) i guess he's comfortable there and he'll stay there
Aser Estevez (aged 23, stagiare, rode with the Spanish national team at a couple of stage races last year) huge talent, but seems to be wasted
Delio Fernández (aged 25, rode with Portuguese Continental squad Onda) he'll continue there next year
Alberto Fernández Sainz (aged 30, can presume retired as his official site has not been updated since the 2010 Volta a Portugal) he's doing mtb and cx regional races, not too serious and mainly for fun, as usually
Marcos García (aged 25, rode for KTM-Murcía until August) he'll ride for Caja Rural
He does admit that as the year has gone on he's been bitten by the cycling bug again, but feels like he should move on) he went on with his university studies, i think he is finishing them or close to it, i don't think he'll race again
Gustavo Rodríguez (aged 32. Rode some MTB, but mostly for elite amateur team Spol-Nova Caixa Galicía in 2011) he did some mtb and road races at amateur level. But he moved to duathlon, where he excels. He has also done some triathlons, with success. I don't know about him right now, but if he could improve a little bit his swimming this winter he would be a great contender for long-distance races

Vlad Efimkin doesn't seem to be coming back with Team Type 1, which is odd given that he was originally included in their roster for 2012 but then inexplicably not on the official 23-man roster. Also, after semi-retiring, he was all 'I'm so glad to be back' after coming back. Anyone know anything? He's a solid GC rider.

Also, Marko Kump. I know he had a bad year, and Geox has been a debacle, but still.

He'll doing a race in New Zealand for TT1 next January.
