Aprica easily, out of the ones I actually watched. But from what I've read, it might actually have been Wellens at Eneco.

1. GW all the way. Nothing this year was that "epic." Thank you weather.
2. Mortirolo
3. Vuelta stage 20

Would put stage 4 of Andulucia above stage 3

My choices
1. Dumoulin Vuelta - Cumbre del Sol. Benitachell
2. Cummings TDF Mende
3. Froome PSM

Can't disagree with #1 and #2. Steve Cummings wins are always great, but mugging the French like that was epic. My third favourite was Trentin and EBH in Nottingham.

Contader at giro just for the scenario alone. The best stage racer of the generation left behind on the bottom of an epic epic climb, everyone at the bottom of that climb was holding their breath to see how it was going to go. Plus it's rare to see cameras mid field watching a guy usually at the front pummel top 20

vuelta stage 20. nice demonstration of what pro-cycling is about:

- team spirit
- never giving up
- loyality to the leader

i hope movistar will learn from this.

I would have voted for Andalucia stage 3, Mortirolo and Vuelta stage 20, but because I voted before the change my votes are for Giro stage 4, Dauphiné and Vuelta :)

Indeed. I doubt it though if Valverde and Quintana are in the same stage races.

Vuelta stage 20, because Aru and Dumoulin was separated by only a few seconds. And it's always funnier to watch when a race when you don't know who the winner is going to be.

TdF PSM stage; suspense about and disagreement over the top climbers respective standing resolved in brutal and glorious fashion. There's nothing like the first serious MTF at the Tour in terms of forcing the players to show their hand.

Gent Wevelgem for sure, that was really fun to watch. Voted for Wellens at Eneco Tour though, that was a great stage as well and especially nice as Wellens took revanche from all the critics he got after the TdF.

No question the Mortirolo stage was the best. It was so good it might as well have happened in the 90's.
That said, I think the Froome vs Quintana battle on D'Huez needs a mention. There was great action that day already on the Croix de Fer, and Froome might aswell have lost the Tour, had it not been for his 2 doms

Voted Vuelta stage 20 and not only due "Astana bloodpath". Ruben Plaza's solo ride was impressive enough to make a shortlist dependless of what happened behind. There was also Nairo-(Majka) attack on JRod. Which Majka d****d up by defending against Nairo instead of attacking for 2nd. Very intriguing stage indeed.

I love a good descent so the wins by Romain Bardet in the Tour and Dauphine were enjoyable. From the list of options Aprica was my favourite.

I didn't see the eneco stage, but let's be real: the max for that can only be an 8 compared to actual really important stages were big riders peak for.

Aprica was great, although not perfect. Would be perfect if landa dropped and kruiswijk won the stage.

I voted for the Eneco stage (didnt read that you can vote for three stages  ). However now I think that Mortirolo was probably better:
Contador mechanical on Aprica descent - fight between the teams on the flat - first kilometers of the Mortirolo were the only ones after the ITT on which I really though AC could loose the giro - Aru dropped by Contador - Astana team tactics change - Aru fades on the remaining kilometers - Aru almost comes back to the 2nd group but has a mechanical - Landa destroys the best of the rest on 3% gradients.
You wont get much more in the 21st century :D

However I generally have to say that most of this years races were great. Ofc, there are some exceptions like Paris-Roubaix, but still this was a very good season.

Gent-Wevelgem would be the best race of course. But if we are talkig about stage races, it's that Dauphine stage.

Best stage for me was Stage 20 of the Vuelta for all the reasons mentioned. Surprised stage 20 of the Tour in not on the list as it was the most nail biting stage (and much better than the Tour stages listed)

For individual performance then Contador in Giro stage 16 (Mortirolo-Aprica) was the best with Steve Cummings next best for me and then Nibali in Il Lombardia

And the best "What the hell is going on and where is everybody" stage then the Duaphine stage , Stage 4 of Giro & Paris Nice in the order . But for these stages you have to be following live as looking back not so eventful

Can someone maybe make another thread with a poll about the best one day race of the year? I would do one on my own but I didnt see most of this years early spring classics so I can't say which races would have to be in the poll
