They're still suffering because of it. Kudos to Betsy for not going away. Field production factors?

"We've paid thousands of dollars in legal fees, and Frankie was just fired from Versus," Betsy Andreu said. "He's the only one not welcome back on the Tour. It's not popular to go up against Lance. Just connect the dots. He's definitely lost jobs from it. We've had to pay out a lot of money. The price of going against Lance is costly. He never goes against the message, he goes against the messenger."

A network spokesperson said Monday that Andreu was not dropped from the Versus broadcast because of his own or his wife's adversarial relationship with Armstrong. "Nothing could be further from the truth," the official said, citing field production factors instead.

Betsy's taken a lot of criticism and insults from the mindless rabble that makes up the Armstrong fanboy army. In the end, she's been right all along, and now the fanboys are spinning around trying to cover the punches that are coming from Hamilton and Hincapie.

Betsy is so successful because she is the opposite of everything Lance tries so hard to paint her as. He tells reporter after reporter that she is a fat *****, when she is actually the hot mom. He and his groupies smear her and she responds calmly with facts, not myth.

It is clear she drives him crazy. She does not play the game and in the long term she is on the right side of this. Every day her stance is confirmed..... while Armstrong gets closer to prison.

The thread is supposed to be somewhat of a tribute to someone who has stood up for the truth when it was anything but the easy path. Not a bad topic really. There is room for dissenting opinions, but keep in mind that Betsy is not only somewhat of a public figure in the cycling world, but also a forum member. Although we love to bash each other, let's also keep it respectful. Let's back away from debating whether the subject of the thread would make a good spouse. She's already taken, and buddy is way fitter than you Chris so let the dream go. :D

oh horror. a pool hall? or a bowling alley?

a little snooty, are we?

No, apparently just a little more respectful.

I, like most people, was brought up to refer to women with respect, and a man's spouse as such, or as his 'wife". Not his "old lady" or his "broad".

Most people, regardless of education, social status or upbringing at least make some attempt to respect the deposition setting and procedure and at least attempt to refer to those that they make refererence to in testimony with decorum and respect.

Like my criminal defense attorney once said to me, "This plea is not a choice between strawberry ice cream and vanilla ice cream." Probably never go there for my God Lance Armstrong. Lance has much going for him, connections and money.
Cycling is about having fun. I think we take ourselves a bit to seriously.
I appreciate Beth. I don't like those girls from peanut butter and company though. I rode with one and she put me in a world of pain.

this thread has shown the fanboys for what we always knew they were pure inbred rednecks.

I hope this thread's trash gets cleaned out as Betsy Andreu deserves more than to read this in a thread praising her glorious efforts and staunch will power against a thug.

lol! love you, Betsy. you have retained your humour throughout -- chapeau!

but gosh darn it, you forgot the winky-face to make your statement complete ;)

Whats with the need to place someone on a pedestal?
If its not Armstrong, it's LeMond. If it's not LeMond its Betsy Andreau.

A national treasure? Really?
What sort of reaction was that supposed to solicit?

I don't know Mrs Andreau, but if she isn't embarassed by this sycophancy, she should be.

I think it elicited exactly what is was meant to...praise and compliments for one who has "stuck to her guns" all these years...

You calling Mrs. Andreu a sycophant is funny. Incorrect too.

Unless, of course, you are referring to her compliments of Greg Lemond. But I really can't see where that gained her any fame, noteriety or advantages.

I will assume that english is not your first language.
Read it again, you will see that the sycophancy statement was most certainly not aimed at Mrs Andreau.

Got it. missed the "this"...

BUT you know what they say about assuming...so I'll assume it isn't yours either given the other mistakes made in your post...

so·lic·it/səˈlisit/Verb

1. Ask for or try to obtain (something) from someone.
2. Ask (someone) for something: "he solicited the critic's opinion

If the title of the post wasn't so emotive, it would be eliciting.
As the title of the post is so emotive, I can only assume it was designed to force a response, i.e. soliciting.

'...supposed to solicit' is stylistically clunky though (he says in a stylistically clunky way). '...supposed to elicit' or just '...solicited' works better.

Anyway, in a blatantly sycophantic way I'd like to add my support to the Betsy for UCI President campaign. Those were dark, dark times when Lance was crushing everybody with his version of the truth; Insurance companies, Newspaper magnates, ex employees, journalists, fellow competitors, etc.

But there was one person who remained un...er...crushed. So I'm more than happy to extend to her my most sincere thanks and best wishes.

A "national treasure" is a bit over the top, but after all the crap she and Frankie have gone through the past few years and all the crap that was written about her and Frankie on these and other forums over the past few years by blind fanboys when turns out she was right all along, I think she deserves a thread. And a huge apology from a number of posters, although I won't be holding my breath waiting for those.

As do Frankie, Lemond, O'Reilly, Walsh, Ressiot, Kimmage, and probably quite a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.
