Is Soler a reserve? He did not ride the Tour or the Giro so I am not sure why the team doesn’t take him to La Vuelta. Surely he must be healthy again (I haven't read any news that he crashed yet).roundabout said:

Uran had a broken clavicle. So I am not sure about him.

Jamsque said:Tommy D will certainly go in to the Vuelta as Garmin's GC leader but I don't think anyone expects him to make the top 20. I'd be impressed if he made the top 50 to be honest.
Regarding CVV, I have no idea what his involvement in the Armstrong case is and what that has to do with anything, but I do remember reading an interview with JV right after Christian crashed out of the Tour where he said he had told CVV to go home and take a break from cycling from a while, because he was really demotivated after doing so well in the '08 tour and then having most of the next two seasons ruined by injury.
Ryaguas said:Well I read time ago that VDV was preparing for La Vuelta... also some tweets from him where he said that too... This is weird maybe that Amstrong affair is hitting hard and VDV is not totally focus in his build up towards La Vuelta
Jamsque said:Hmm, I just had a quick glance over CVV's twitter going back to May and he hasn't mentioned the Vuelta. Certainly his plan at the start of the season was Giro-Tour, having crashed out of both it's possible he decided to re-focus on the Vuelta but if that's the case I haven't read it anywhere.
There are several others who also must be taken into consideration. A glancing at the start list reveals that Christian Vande Velde is not listed for the race, but that’s an error; on top form, he could be a serious rival to the other contenders.
The Vuelta organisers mistakenly named his Garmin Transitions team-mate Riccardo Van Der Velde as being set to take part, but VeloNation has confirmed that this is an error and that his elder namesake would indeed be riding. He will be aided by Tom Danielson, who showed promising form in the recent Tour of Poland.

With some people who are at least as strong if not stronger in the climbs (Mosquera, Menchov, Anton) I don't see why this should be Nibali's to lose.Nick C. said:Tommy D was pretty high up in the standings until like half way thru last year if I remember correctly so a top 10 would be a bare minimum. I think it should be Nibali's to lose. If Frank Schleck actually tries he would be my next bet for a podium place, but Tour de Suisse this year notwithstanding (and the '07 Giro) the Schlecks have a habit of being non-chalant outside of the Tour and Ardennes.
