Rujano after winning a stage in Colombia:

"I think my win showed that I'm in a good condition for the Vuelta."

Come again?

Vuelta á Colombia perhaps? ;)

With some people who are at least as strong if not stronger in the climbs (Mosquera, Menchov, Anton) I don't see why this should be Nibali's to lose.

I was not sure if Menchov would go all in and I forgot about Mosquera. Anton, we'll see. I haven't studied the route so perhaps I am just going overboard based on one Giro and last years TDF on Nibali.

That's the race he's in. He was talking about Spain.

Here's why I made that comment: He was in negotiations with Footon, but he can't possibly be in the preliminary list sent to the UCI so I don't think he can race.

I don't know if he really meant that. I think he also meant vuelta colombia.

I know he wanted to be in the vuelt espana, but that's too late I;m afraid.

Mauricio Soler out of Caisse's team selection for the Vuelta- Rigoberto Uran is comfirmed to ride it...

It's really a pity that Soler is now considered a "liability" for the team, instead of an asset-or even as a domestique neither

Riiight, that's why he won a stage in the 3d week of the 2006 Vuelta, and finished 6th overall.

And 7th the year before that. Though honestly, he probably is right. I'd say it's 50-50 whether he even finishes. Brodeal may have it right. He certainly hasn't been the same rider.

Soler's not a liability. He's very much an asset. As a result, they're not willing to throw him into the race when he won't be in any fit shape to race it. Unzué has quite a good record of wrapping riders in cotton wool. Madrazo, for example, has been kept very carefully.

I am not sure. Soler is not that young anymore. He was hired to ride GT's and this year would be 0/3. So this looks like Bye Bye Soler.

so ricco will NOT take part at this years vuelta, because lefevre is to stupid to put him on the reserve list for reasons of precaution on this saturday.

what an unbelievable cack-handed idiot. that's so amateurish. he wants to sign a gc contender for the vuelta, and forget to announce him.

what a disappointment :(

soler has a contract for 2011 so taht is not happening and he will race velta. it's just he's in the reserve list, because this list was put up in july when soler was still injured with his knee, he's fit now and will race this sunday in vattenfall

you are wrong in both. uran won't ride the vuelta because of his collarbone. soler will when he doesn't get injured again of course

I just wanted to point out that the problem probably isn't his recuperation, there's just always something else that prevents him from reaching the stage where there's even any recovering involved :p

Is it überhaupt possible to list someone you don't own?

i think so, cause bruyneel did it with vinokourov last year when he put him into the astana reserve list while his new contract wasn't signed, but he was knowing that it will be later.

Why would he be on the reserve list if he hasn't been signed yet? He's not stupid, he would have been if he put Ricco on the list before actually signing him. If he was stupid his team wouldn't totally dominate in the spring classics.

In the few chances he's had to show what he really has this year Soler has been as good as he ever was; he was climbing with Contador, Mosquera and Antón in Castilla y León after bridging across to them solo; he attacked the group repeatedly, and yo-yoed off the back of it, but he was 2nd in the stage (Antón won), winning the sprint (possibly because nobody would dare get into a sprint with somebody with such suspect bike handling skills!). He was then tuning up for the Tour when he got injured, and is only just coming back now.

I cant believe that there is no backdoor way for Quick Step to bring Ricco to the Vuelta, there are still two weeks till the race starts.

well, he wanted to sign ricco as a leader for the vuelta and was knowing that the deal maybe will finally get through in the next few days. so why didn't he call him a reserve, so that he is able to start after he has signed? if the deal wouldn't have been worked out, just the other riders would have start. as i said, astana did it with vinokourov last year, when they called him as the third reserve rider so that he would be able to race, when the contract is signed. he signed a few days later and replace one of the other named riders. i think it was klöden, wasn't it?

maybe if more riders get "injured" than are named on the list?

or would it be possible for them to just ignore the rule and pay a penalty? i don't think so.

maybe we see a gentlemans agreement between quick step and unipublic who know's. i really hope so.

Nothing to do with Unipublic, it's the UCI's rule.

both those articles are wrong and they haven't even talked to either rider. they just saw the pre start list of the vuelta. uran won't ride he's in colombia training after his broken collarbone and soler is in europe riding vattenfall, if he's not injured he will ride vuelta
