van der Poel gets props for sure still every picture of him in the last fifteen k if not more were close up moto head shots.

They really should do something about this OR just say: Well, that's the bonus you get from taking the initiative.

I noticed there was somebody signalling to the camera bike that it should move away which it did - shortly. A few seconds later it was back in front of van der Poel. It seemed very deliberate. And it was a Benelux home favourite.

Btw...when did MvDP attack? I started watching around 30km to go and he was already more than a minute ahead.

I'm sorry but all you Danes just sound like sour grapes now.. You do realize Soren Kragh Andersen solo's in the Tour had the same advantage? It's scientifically proven even with motors far away they still provide a little slipstream.

Instead of searching excuses from this kind of ***. You should just say it like it is. SkA and Pedersen *** up when they let Van der Poel go with 75km to go. That was simply arrogance. And that cost them the race

Sunweb cost Kragh the overall. They let Trek work alone way too long. In these races, you should go hard on the flats, then ease a bit on the bergs to keep the team together. Then, once the difference is small enough, the leader has to go and form an elite group. They didn't do the former, then the elite group failed to catch MVDP.

But do we know that they let him go - Trek and Sunweb both being like; "Eh, we'll catch him easy-peasy!", or if he was simply too strong/caught them by surprise?

I think that's arrogance. You don't let a guy like that ever go. Do you think if the situation wa sreversed VDP would let go Ska with 75km? That's stupid

Okay, I don't think this should turn into a nationality issue but Søren Kragh would win those two stages without the motos, no question at all.

Van der Poel would not have made it to the finish today without motos. But it was a brilliant ride by him nonetheless.

You still haven't answered my question; did they let him go, or was it simply a matter of him either:

1) Being too strong?
B) Catching them by surprise?
III) Some combination?

I don't really care about what "cost them the race". I'm saying that when two riders are fighting for seconds head-to-head then it's not fair to put a motorcycle in front of one of them and not the other.

This is not the same as in a stage in a Grand Tour where it's only about the stage win. It would be comparable to placing a motorcycle in front of Roglic on the last TT in the Tour de France and not doing the same thing for Pogacar.

I don't really see it being a big loss for the viewers if the rule was 20 meters between rider and motorcycle for instance (and then of course the organizers should be able to communicate directly to the producers to give warnings).

And I'm calling ***. Just a poor attempt at trying to make anything less of that victory. The motors aren't as close as you think. You know they have a telelens.

Instead of what this should have been, applauding the winner and enjoying the final. I think it's just a poor attempt at hiding frustration that a Dane didn't win. No coincedance it's Danes that bring it up in the topic
