Well, it looks like we are going to see Sky vs Hotsteppers showdown as every other relevant team is detonating themselves.
Lampre seem to be prettyy good this season and i still think that the Astana drama will end with Vino being forced to step down.

Apparently Riis suspended by Tinkov....

ADD report coming up soon and I think it will be hard on Riis regardless of SOL...

Danish newspaper reports of controversy between the two after poor results but in my opinion there has to be more to it..

Tinkov risks to alienate the whole team if he hasn't done that already...

Be ready for Team meltdown.....

I agree Tinkov likely to pull the plug if it is obvious that Contador wont win either Il Giro or TdF. Lots on the team not going to get paid would be another guess.

I think the impact of the ADD report is being a bit overestimated here, but ok, I have been wrong before and will be again.

I don't necessarily think Riis is up for suspension...

But I do think the report will put him under pressure.. And now Tinkov proves he has no patience to wait for results as well as he does'nt want to endure a hard time of questioning to his leading team mangaer..

Things are likely intertwined...

What I do think though is that Riis gone is not good for the riders, the team or level of cleanliness within it...

Sagan is not the shoe in for wins they thought he was. He his heavily marked. Contador will come good though.
IMO Something personal has gone on. The egos clashed.

Do people question Contador, Kreuziger, Rogers, Basso or Tinkoff himself?

Unless there is something new (post-2007) on Riis in the report, I doubt that the report alone is the reason

I am pretty sure that the report is just a cover-up. Tinkoff is no Brailsford when it comes to managers and I am pretty sure that he doesn't care about PR bullsh*t like Sky is obsessed.

I very much doubt Riis cares too much. His impending Danish anti doping agency report will probably mean the end for him.

Lampre should detonate whenever Mantova finally finishes

I guess its a "muscle game" in a business world. And, as bad as it is, as usual the bigger basterd won. IOW: The rich russian psycho narcissist from the Yeltsin era prevailed over a softened western guy. The last thing pro cycling needed: The worst of them all, Tinkov, overtaking complete control.

Tinkov will sack Riis, and will use the doping report as excuse at some point. Like he gives a *** about anti-doping.

I'm inclined to believe that Riis has had enough of Tinkov & his BS on "tough love" to get results- perhaps this is the ideal situation to walk away from the business without the "bite" of a larger scandal .....

Perhaps he might join Contador in the coming years to build up his team & take it to the next level....

If the sacking is related to doping it would be for the lack of it!!

Do you think that Tinkov cares about doping at all???

Nope.

Well no, but if he's smart he cares about PR and the perception of doping.

Emphasis on "if".

According to L'Equipe Tinkov wanted Riis to demote de Jongue, Riis refused.

So Tinkov spat out his dummy

Tinkov was not happy when Quintana just sailed away from Alberto on Terminillo.
Tinkov demanded Riis to demote De Jongh and drive the first team car himself. Riis didn't agree. This happened in front of the team, with Tinkov screaming. Sagan spoke out against Tinkov.

This is just Tinkov being Tinkov. His money couldn't buy him big wins in two months, so he lost it. Now he has to pay Riis his juicy salary for not working, just so he could get his pathetic revenge.

This is what i hear in the media as well..
The press release from Tinkoff says is is neither due to lack of results nor financial issues...
However the disobedient option is still open...

For now i'll hang on to my theory that the ADD report has influence on the decision..
It could very well be multi-faceted though, as it seems Tinkov doesn't like his authority being questioned... (no big surprise)

Doping or not, I say kudos to Riis for defending his staff and riders....

I don't think anyone could work for Tinkov for very long. He won't be in pro cycling too much longer. Also I respect Riis for defending his team in front of such a boor.

Agreed... On the empathy skill scale he scores a 0-1 out of 10...

I really can't see him getting the team to perform without some degree of "modern" leadership..

When he realizes he can't get the results he needs, he will disappear in a heart beat..

I wonder if Riis can keep away from the sport though (assuming he wont be banned/too troubled by add report)

I read chicken aired the possibility of Riis starting over with SaxoBank..
Maybe if Tinkov throw in the towel end season Riis can ovetarke most his old team on a new license...

If so, then he just tricked Tinkov for 6 million euros :p

If the outburst was motivated by what happened on the Terminillo, then I can kind of understand why Tinkoff was unhappy.

But ultimately, he went about it in a completely wrong way and what happened did not cost the team the win (perhaps not even a podium)

How is SaxoBank doing anyway?

I heard that they ran into a bit of a problem when shorting the CHF backfired, but I don't know if it's just a rumor as I haven't checked.

Yikes, we aren't even out of March and Tinkov is losing it. Gonna be an interesting year of racing.
