FU superteam concept, I kinda enjoy this. Hope the Shack fails similarly too, at some point at least.

Mark my words Gilbert will be at a much better level in RVV. Its one of his seasons targeted races. E3 meant nothing other than a preparation too him. When has Gilbert even performed well in E3 or GW.

Did you see him? He was struggling to even follow the peloton. Either he had a hunger knock, or thought he did, or he was really bad.

Perhaps. But quitting before the race actually started is not preparation.

He might have had a hunger knock saw him eating many energy bars. But Im sure he will be better at RVV, you guys can even make me do a avatar bet.

Phil might just surprise this weekend.

Well, he certainly surprised a few people, today.
I never realised that BMC made a lead bike.:D

In all seriousness, I was shocked to see him labouring up the Eikenberg, at the very rear of the peloton, with 55 kms still to ride.
Surely, something is not right with Phil. He seems to have no form whatsoever.

Dude, he was basically the first guy to get dropped from the peloton as soon as the TV coverage started. Clearly there's something wrong with him.

I don't think it's just an issue with form, could be a virus or something. There must be some explanation at least, because he isn't even a shadow of his old self.

I'm marking your words. Your arguments make little sense though. I don't think Gilbert ever raced the E3 before (or it must have been before his big breakthrough) In 2010, finished 3rd in GW, don't remember much from 2011 (although it was obvious he was in really good shape already then). Before that GW was on the wednesday after de Ronde, mostly used as a training ride by the big guys. De Brabantse Pijl was on sunday in those years, and that was usually a race where Gilbert rode excellent.

Even if he had an illness, he will be able to recover by RVV. He will ride hard at RVV no matter what. But I think he had a hunger knock.

this might be the biggest fail since hindenburg damn.what the hell is wrong with them?

I don't know, but he had to go to the dentist again to remove some infected thingie. We all know how hard that can mess you up, just look at Cav in 2010. Although that was probably worse than what Phil has.

It looks like Phil was too busied by the question of getting a good '3-years' contract at the end of 2011 and it is taking its toll now.

Wonder has Phil had a 'damn, what have I done?!' moment yet?

These kind of starts tend to colour the rest of the season; the tone of the year for Phil and BMC may have already been set.

Not trying to sound alarmist, but Gilbert almost rides like someone with Pfeiffer this year. I wonder if BMC has tested his blood (no clinic-pun intended).

Gilbert won Omloop het Volk, twice, and was 3rd in Flanders. Yeah he totally sucks in cobbled classics ;)

Yup if Gilbert starts sucking in the ardennes, then he is doing really badly. We dont have to sound the alarm just yet.

I'd imagine that the did something like that during the time when he was in Imola with doctor Testa.

And to be honest, the conflicting reports/rumors about his fitness level (or rather mostly BMC pretending that nothing is wrong) aren't helping.
