Ochowicz - "But if you don’t make the race, you don’t have a chance to win the race" + "We don’t want to race for second or third. We don’t win that many races, but at least we try."

:)

Wonderful.

And the BMC stage racing side over in Basque Country:rolleyes:

Well considering they won the most hotly contested stage race so far this year, whilst giving solid support to their leader, I don't think you can be too critical in that department for a few months.

They only have one stage racer and he's not in Basque Country.

But lets not forget when BMC went on their crazy spending spree a few seasons back, it was their Classics division that looked stronger with Hincapie, Ballan, Kroon, Burghardt and they have since added Van Avemaert so its a case of finally living up to expectations. Something Garmin need to do now.

I thought SKY were very active today, Rabobank, Vacansoleil also, I think Omega Pharma were weak with only Gilbert visible for the last 40km.

Think Rabobank were but vaconsoleil, mainly Devolder dissapointed me. Hopefully he can well in the ardenees and paris-roubaix with the help of leukamans and de gendt. Agree with the lotto part. BMC raced superbly hats off to them.

Have to take Lotto off the list too. Greipel was a early animator and the best thing Gilbert could do to increase his win rate is learn how to sit back and suck a wheel every now and then.

BMC, Quickstep, Sky and Lotto all played played a good attacking team race. Leopard effectively had only Fabian and Stuey but they held their own.

The questions are; LIQUIGAS what happened, all take a wrong turn at the Paterberg, stop off for a quick Chimay and some frites? Radioshack did you know there was a race on? And Garmin-Cervelo, wow, Super Team or Super-Sucky Team?
Lotto didn't play a good attacking team race. Gilbert played a good attacking race. That team has three leaders, and the rest is filler, which we've seen all too well in the last few weeks. And only one of those leaders is really guaranteed to score.

As for BMC: their classics squad is certainly performing to their abilities, unlike last year. They have much more possibilities than Garmin, who can only sit back, wait, and lose the sprint. But BMC's GC squad still sucks, just look at Pais Vasco, where they are now quite comfortably at the bottom of the team rankings.

BMC are strong but it could be worthwhile buying a quality sprinter for next year, who can finish off all the hard work they are putting in. They have strong riders like Ballan and Burghhardt, and Greg VA but he seems to be developing into more of an allrounder than the sprinter he used to be. I hope they can still get some good results in the remaining classics.

I bet they think Phinney will fill that role for them. But I hope they get a more established sprinter.
