So is the end result of Van Aert skipping Sanremo to peak for the cobbled monuments that he's peaking too late or is Pedersen a better classics rider than this version of Evenepoel now?
I don't think there's reason to believe that he is stronger here than in Ronde. But the competition on cobbled bergs was much stiffer then.

E3 and Roubaix seem to have been mostly mental. Physically, it's primarily his sprint that has disappointed.

A lot of talk from the commentators (TNT) about Pidcock being 'here for the win.'
Well, maybe he was, but when the race went uphill and the attacks came from the best riders he did not have it, no response from him, so forget about him.
Not at the same level as the three leaders.

They'll start looking at each other sooner rather than later.
It was clear who will be the first three when they got away. Really bad race by UAE and EF who should have made that move with the team they have here. but no one anticipated. teams are still under the illusion that they can just ride in the peleton with Remco and co. Ot htey are just not interested in winning anymore which is also a recent development.
