I did honestly wonder if UAE had offered him some sort of bonus to skip World's and go and farm a few victories elsewhere.

For sure, but he is in the crunch in many races, his tenacity is fantastic.. Guy doesn't overpower all but he is the consummate calculator on how to win.

A little disappointed he doesn’t appear to be attempting to to ride for a good GC in this race. Del Toro is not at his best, why not go for a top ten or even top 5?
