You'd think Eurosport might consider making themselves available in the States.

Can't you just get a MASSIVE satellite dish or something...;)

We may whinge about paying, but by the sounds of it, I guess we are lucky :)

Here we pay £18/month for the relevant sky package with Eurosport 1 and 2 - £10 extra for HD, which is a pain but REALLY worth it when you see the quality of Paris Nice coverage etc.

Alternatively, Eurosport in German is available free to air anywhere in Europe via digital satellite..

Omloop was a nightmare, all the switching and trying to find channels and also the phony V-Share plug in.

The scenario of getting coverage and then it getting pulled again looks likely by the sound of things.

if you download streamtorrent Im told that the flanders classics will be streamed via that (its almost impossible for the anti-piracy lot to shut down a p2p stream) - that will be the easiest way to view it (i had no problems watching omloop but a whole host of problems keeping feeds up on tsf)

And yes, its crazy, im currently investigating how the highlights can be put up under the fair use banner. To be encroaching on copyright you have to be broadcasting, uploading something that stops the copyright holder making money, or costs them in some way. If the flanders classics are only viewable to those in belgium then for 99% of the world you are not commiting copyright (at least you can get away with it under fair use as news reporting). The problem comes because people in belgium can view the streams or the youtube highlights. If people in belgium view them, rather than paying for sporza then it is copyright infringment.

For example, if someone could put up a stream that was georesitricted to all countries that didnt receive live coverage it would not be breaking copyright (but thats impossible to do).

It may just be that flanders classics are trying to sort out new tv deals and obviously to tv companies its more attractive if there arent alternate ways of viewing the races.

Sooner or later something is going to have to give. Either the likes of TSF and WCC are going to have to really push it on the "fair use" issue, or there will simply be no highlights online anywhere.

(i have started experimenting with russian and chinese video hosting. so far the omloop videos havnt been taken down from a russian video site. ;))

The 25 or so minutes (split between before and after the race) that Eurosport dedicated to MSR today is absolutely amazing.

TSF, could you do one of those multi email sending things to eurosport so we can all thank them for the out of this world coverage of todays race?

Don't forget the seven, ad breaks that were timed for every 15 minutes, regardless on what was happening in the race.
I couldn't believe that they disappeared, just as soon as the attacks started on the Cipressa.

Yes that was a good one, luckily it was only short - by the time I was half way to the PC to express my disgust they were back live.

Anyway, Harmon mentioned Flanders so I assume we are safe there, no G-W though?

They advertised GW for next week after the race saying its a sprinters classic for Cav.

Eurosport adverts are always pretty short anyway. Often Harmon says that they try to get the ads out of the way so we can see the end uninterrupted.

Is Eurosport player only available to people in Europe? That is really good for only £4 a month. It's what I use at uni March-May + Sept-Oct.

What gets me is that their ad breaks are usually just promote other stuff they are showing. As if those who are watching don't know and as for those who aren't watching............

Anyhow, on the plus side, it seems that Eurosport have also got highlights of Catalunya scheduled for next week, 30 minutes each stage.

A plus..................if it comes off, since there was no coverage at all, last year.

Early heads up for UK Eurosport's weekend and next week's schedule.
First, the bad news. No live Gent-Wevelgem, but 2 and a half hours of this race, plus the Criterium International, straight after the World Track champs, this Sunday, at 5-30pm BST.

Now the good news.
Brit Eurosport 2 has full live coverage of the 3 days of De Panne back!
All 4 stages, Tuesday to Thursday.:)

They are only showing the Sunday (or just the ITT) of Crit International aren't they... this was the same as last year if I remember correctly.

Last year they showed the closing stages of stage 1, though i think only because it was "Contador vs Lance" in theory. Also the stage overun by like 70 minutes or something so could have been just the highlights spot turned into live. They didnt show stage 2a but might have showed highligts of itt later i think.

I think all these networks are missing a big marketing piece called the "internet-based subscription"

Living here on the east coast USA (and I've said this in other forum topics) I would pay for a decent subscription to Sporza's cycling coverage Eurosport etc..much like soccer has done.

However, I'm sure.... that I represent the minority.

I'd happily subscribe too.

Pais Vasco live? That is a big win... I don't remember it being live last year?

Yes it was. Came back after a couple of years absence. We saw a few other races return to Eurosport's screen, last year.
This year, they seem to be picking up other long lost events, such as Catalunya and De Panne.
For us it's all good news.
Hardly a dull moment these days.

Hey guys! I'm wondering what happened to the Eurosport's before stage behind the scenes magazine? Few years ago it was half an hour long, then I remember they shortenned it to only 15 minutes directly before going LIVE....how is it this year? Unfortunately I couldn't watch it from the beginning of the stage so far so I wouldn't have known. If this magazine doesn't exist anymore does anyone know why?

This magazine was great and you really got a feeling that you're following the race!:)

If you try Eurosport International/HD, there is different stuff on there. (No studio as on British)
