The silence from Radcliffe in response to Race Radio's tweet is deafening.

I would think there's decent chance she hasn't read the tweet. To understate it...slightly.

Ok, I don't use Twitter myself. I just read it.

Does it have a news feed like facebook?

I though since the post drew a lot of responses and tagged Paula's name it would be likely to crop up in her news feed.

A slightly obvious post in another forum not 'naming any names'.

What?
This?

Race Radio

The British star is the one that many had hoped. Not going to name names but she has been very outspoken against EPO. She has a very interesting excuse. She was pregnant......which is odd as normally pregnancy lowers Hct.

Some of the numbers on the list are insane. Off scores for a man of 167, a woman of 170. That is freaking insane.

Has Race Radio some access here?

Still some speculation on the name, so even myself as king of speculation is waiting for something more concrete. But the wheels do appear in motion.

Do you honestly believe the name will get out who it is?

It already has gotten out. Not to the public, but it is circulating.

Heard the name of the UK athlete with suspicious blood values from two different sources today. Let's say it would be very interesting

It's only a matter of when, not if.

There was always crazy Gary the overbearing coach/husband in the background...The trackside fight in 2001 was a lasting memory of the weirdness going on there.

You're right here Hog. Paula and Gary's spat was weird. I'd never encountered a woman reacting badly to the wrong thing being said at a stressful moment by her man, so this came as a real shock to me. He'd have been better off telling her than her bum looked big in her running shorts.

I was commenting on her responding to a particular person's tweet, not the identity. I would assume it unlikely for her to be following any given person. Not responding would be, I'd think, expected.

I assumed Twitter followers got messages from either people who 1) Tagged their name. 2) They are following.

The following function is to see posts about that persons matters unrelated to them.

I may have it wrong I don't use Twitter.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Lance respond to race radios tweets in the past.

Of course you don't.

I personally think she might have had badzilla but that's just me.

Actually it was a valid question - i don't know how altitude screws with blood values to norse up any testing, which is why i was asking.

But Lance is obsessed (with himself, mostly) and would often respond to any number of people who criticized him.

If someone tags your name, it will show up, but you have to seek it out deliberately (unless you already follow them. Email notification will also occur, but that depends upon one's personal settings). I imagine that anyone with a high profile would likely have many more "mentions" than they have time to keep track of (except for Lance, that is).

So it's quite likely that she is unaware of many tweets directed her way. Then again, some will inevitably reach their target. ;)

Can someone help me out with the effect of pregnancy on blood values? So my understanding is pregnant women produce lots more blood, to supply the placenta. Which presumably would effect their blood values in some significant way or other.

But Race Radio is saying HCT normally goes down in pregnancy. I'm no expert on this, so can someone clever (mercx index or python?) outline the expected relationship between blood volume and other blood values in pregnancy (and remind me what HCT actually is)?

I notice the pixelled out picture in the Daily Mail article is of a person with long brown hair. Has the even bigger scandal, namely Paula Radcliffe isn't a natural blonde, finally been unearthed?

You're a day behind ... the picture is from Comic Relief. Its Davina McCall and has been heavily photoshopped. There were some posts over the weekend about it.

http://www.itv.com/news/london/topic/davina-mccall/

Check out the clothes design, hairstyle and also the hint of lime green in the first pic.

No, you're right and it's a good point, but I'm trying to imagine the number of times someone like that is tagged a day. Must be hundreds. I'd not think she would respond to such a request either way, frankly. I wouldn't.

Yes, much better answer there.

RR is right, at least according to babycenter.com.

"Even if you're not anemic at the beginning of pregnancy, it's not uncommon to develop anemia as your pregnancy progresses, so you'll have another blood test in your late second trimester or early third trimester. It's normal for your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels to go down somewhat in the second half of pregnancy, when the amount of blood in your body is expanding dramatically and the amount of plasma (the fluid component of blood) increases faster than the number and size of red blood cells – but you don't want them to dip too low."

Yes, leave to men to tell women what happens to them during pregnancy!

Because women never want to share any of the aches & pains associated with pregnancy; how are we to know about the bloating, swelling, hemorrhoids, cravings, assorted hormone related craziness, dry skin, etc etc ;)

It only makes sense that blood values go down over a pregnancy, as lets face it, it's a 9 month GT, & at the end of it, you take 5/6 pints of blood equivalent & remove it from mother, and give it a name & raise it for 18 years :D

Damn. I thought I was onto something there!

Why would a newspaper that has been warned not to release the name of the athlete, and is under legal obligations not to, then link in the story a picture of the actual athlete which even if it has a blurred out head, could easily be traced back to an original by any amateur computer geek?
