You should remember that such cultural references aren't always familiar to all nations and generations.

I'm a different generation and nationality than ACF, and I was not familiar with the quote either.

I was just letting him know, not trying to be mean. There wasn't a  or anything. I'll put a :) next time to be clearer.

Some things cross all bounds and generations. Try to be an OG gangster or even a wannabe without knowing your Scarface quotes and you'll get buried like a cockroach.

'Recently, a colleague alerted me to a post on the Cyclingnews.com forum, ominously entitled: “Graham Watson: Keeper of Omerta”.

On October 21, the forum member who started the post, BroDeal, then wrote: “Snarfed this from a post on Bike Radar. It is from the Q&A portion of Watson's website.” '

It is nice that Bro-deals cuz (cousin) decided to talk him up in the paper, congragulations on your 15 minutes of fame Bro-deal you are now a "SUPERSTAR"

Agreed. He moved from topic to shiny topic like a pack rat.

Cobber - good response. Nice that they posted it.

That smells a little like jealousy. Work on your spelling, add some witty cultural references, some humour, a little more sobriety, a little less crazy, and your posts too could be the basis for someone's research. Or not.

I remember during the Giro, at the start of the Landis thing, Harmonn made a comment about anyone wanting to see some list, should go on cycling news forums and read a thread by some poster. I cant remember which poster he mentioned. Was it Bro deal too?

That was me. He wanted people to read my posts.

It means Original Grandma

I think the term originated in the nursing homes of West Palm Beach, Florida

An 8 year old could of written a better article.

True, and if it was a Belgian 8 year old then he'd know far more about cycling too!

And another note, you know your sport is in trouble when you can find far better sports writing about it on forums than in the articles written by actual "pro" journalists. Flicker posts excluded of course.

Dont worry neither to I. And i didnt know the quote was from scarface. Ive seen it, but got better things to do than remember it.

now test me on star wars episode IV or High fidelity and im fine. But theres not really much call for quotes about jedi's or washed up depressed record shop owners on a cycling forum.

"i hated my babysitter cause she wouldn't let me hit her":D

eazy e and ice t mentioned on a thread about graham watson and omerta in cycling.i love this forum:p

about that article what to say?that guy is a stupid fucc,he lives in a dream world and knows nothing about life in general.

Thankfully, with certain figureheads from the UCI and WADA, and teams like Garmin-Transitions, HTC-Columbia and Team Sky, who accept how it was and want it to change, the omerta is lifting, albeit not fully exorcised.

lol gtfo!

I was always more of a Tasty Taste type of guy.

Tan's article, as rambling as it is, seems to amount to cycling's usual set of talking points, namely that even though things might have been bad in the past, which we won't go into and will steadfastly deny any specifics, the sport can now be trusted.

As long as we are doing obscure cultural references, I have had this bouncing around in my head all day: All night by the Zev Zev. All night by the Zev I lay.

It's going to be a long day.

That was some pretty weak writing. If you're going to comment on this place you better have all of your guns loaded and your shields up. Reading the article I have to wonder who exactly thinks Tan's writing is worthy of being a promoted blog?

I hope I'm not sounding smug here, but I come across people who think they know about the trenches of cycling and doping analysis and speculation. They think they're looking at the front line, but most of them see a few bullets fly and that's it. They don't realize they're really back about 1000 meters behind the trench we're in. They get a glimpse here, think we're nuts for being here, and that's it. Tan seems to be one of those people. The only line I see in front of us is the talk of actual dopers, such as what you read on CEM, if you can stomach it (though plenty of that site is BS - Big Boat is a senior member there for example).

If Tan really wants to make a comment on BroDeal, or any of the rest of us, he should join this place and start posting. He'll probably get slammed pretty hard just like everyone else new who dares enter this place with an opinion, but if his skin grows thick enough he'll probably fit in, and learn quite a bit in the process.

I dont agree. Today many "sport journalists" are former professionals, and in this country, where football is by far the biggest sport, you find yourself in a situation where half the "sport journalists" are former professional footballers - the dumbest kind of human being there is.
