I think Yates is going to end up gaining time personally, and demonstrate exactly what Contador should have done (tho I guess he doesn't have the team that Orica have apparently)

I don't think Contador would get the leeway that Yates would

Of course, but it's not like Movisky aren't pushing now

Contador wouldn't get as much as an inch from Movistar and Sky if he tried what Yates just did.

Fantastic ride by Yates and Orica so far.

At this rate, he's going to end the day 1 minute behind Quintana, and if Quintana and Froome end up fading...

Amazing performance from Simon, and Chaves form look on the rise as well. Hopefully Orica isn't satisfied with a podium spot. Next time Chaves could be the one trying from afar.

Chapeau Simon. :D

He put in a ton of work, I hope it doesn't cost him tomorrow. He did seem to fade a little at the end.

Yates is riding super well - The longer climbs are more suited to his characteristics - Will be interesting if he can retain his form for another week - Will do a better TT than Chavez.

Very nice ride by Yates and Orica. It would have been even more interesting if one or two other riders had joined with them and worked just as well. I was hoping Yates would win the stage but I was glad to see Gesink have a change of fortune.

The plan to keep Chaves in the bunch and Yates covering attacks and putting pressure on the bunch is working really well for them. In past GT's for Chavez he has been left on his own once the roads have tilted up, so this is a real first for OBE to have not only Yates helping and being a force himself but others like Haig, Howson, Gerro and Keuky all helping in the hills. Not sure if they could have scripted a better plan today with firstly Cort and Gerro dropping back from the breakaway to pace him (after Haig had helped him break clear of the bunch), then Keuky dropping back and springboarding Yates to a great final climb. Well done to Chavez as well getting clear of the big boys on the final climb. Some great footage on Backstage Pass http://www.greenedgecycling.com/backstage-pass/

Thought Yates may have suffered today after his big effort yesterday - Unlucky that today was such a crazy stage.

He did but managed to limit the damage quite well. Think podium is out of the question but barring a disastrous blow-out, he should be able to maintain a top 10 -15 which won't be too bad for his first real GC crack and given his interrupted season.

S.Yates is fading a bit in these last stages. He just needs to hold it together for one more stage and he'll get a decent placing.Only 20 seconds between him and Talansky so 5th place is still up for grabs.

talansky has been very ninja this vuelta, be very surprised if yates can't take 21 seconds.

I am not sure if somebody already did but I am going to go ahead and ask again if somebody can summarize the strengths and weaknesses of these two brothers please. Who is better between the two. Or who has more potential.

Well potential is the same ...they are twins and have the exact same genitics.....They travelled a differnt path to the pro ranks but they are so similar as riders ...Thought Simon had the edge on climbing but Adam was 4th at the Tour

Whatever one can do the other can do and they are more competeive against each other than anyone else

Great signing by Orice...two amasing riders with loads of ambition and determination

What makes them great inmy book is their mental attitude ...strong,dedicated and confident ..maybe it comes from being twins together racing

Simon seems better at stage hunting and classics, while Adam seems to be better at racing for overall at stage races and recovery.

Simon Yates' high finish at last year's Vuelta belies his ability a bit. He and Talansky are certainly a level or two below the likes of Froome, Quintana, Nibali, Contador, Aru, Mollema and Chaves. Having said that Simon Yates is possibly Orica's best chance at a hard ridden edition of Liege or Flèche Wallonne. Gerrans and Albasini might be better if they soft-pedal like Liege in 2014, but not in an aggressive race.

Thanks for the feedback. I was just curious just to be prepare how Orica prepare their cards this year.
