Simon Yates

Tirreno (leader)
Catalunya (dom)
Altitude
Giro (leader)
Tour (dom)

Season starting late I think, had to go to Japan in October so it's for the best
Catalunya, dom? Why? This means no Giro for Vingegaard and a duel between twins. Great!

Yeah I think the Catalunya one is probably just to get some kms racing with Vingegaard, not a bad idea as they will be against Roglic and he is a pain in the arse to race against in those awkward 1 weekers.

Should go better with this program. Jayco made it difficult for him in 2024 when they had him ride in Taiwan at the end of October 2023 and then he did the TDU and Alula Tour in January. It was always going to end in tears.

He's for once looking to come good in the 3rd week after being hit by a car in Spain. I think Adam is too but he might be a bit injured. He's there in the mix after stages that don't suit him and can take advantage of the squabble between UAE/Roglic. Visma are looking decent, Wilco is in mythical shape, Van Baarle is back, if he picks the right moment he can win this, invest in Simon Yates stocks now before it's too late.

You just know that he will take off with his brother in one of the stages (could be to Asiago) where everyone will look at RedBull.

What can we expect from Simon Yates?

He's surprising me.
He had a mediocre season last year, but this Giro he´s looking very good.

We'll see if he doesn't spring a surprise in the mountains. We already know Simon is capable of winning the queen stage or losing 15 minutes

It was no surprise he had a mediocre season in 2024 when you consider he finished 2023 at the end of october, then had to get ready for the TDU and the Alula Tour in January/February 2024.

If Visma is able to make him perform more consistently, he can ride podium or better if others collapse

Would be something if he wins the Giro on Finestre after his collapse in 2018.
Ok I'll stop dreaming.
He got dropped a little on La Marsia and then in Siena too. I think Simon Yates is just sleeper really good at technical TTs.
